Power is almost the anti-Risto.

Risto: Fast skater, played a physical game, could play some defense at times, complete lack of hockey sense and limited offensive skills.

Power: Slow skater, plays the least physical game possible, plays limited, if any defense, decent hockey sense and strong offensive skills.

Gretzky called out Power in the intermission after he failed to clear the puck on Zibanijad's PPG in the 1st...

It was a lazy play.

Adams is failing these kids miserably, the smart thing to do when you have young offensive minded defensemen is not adding more young offensive minded defensemen. Adding veteran defensive minded defensemen who can move the puck is the wise choice but expecting a whole group of 20 year olds who aren't great at defense and asking them to become that with no guidance other than coaching them up is just plain stupid. When we traded Middlestadt for Byram I really liked the player but he was more of what we already had here. Listen to the Kevin Adams past interview, he said he knew what they were getting in Power and that he wasn't much of a hitter and needed to work on his defensive game. So if he knew this why not go out and trade for a veteran defensive dman to possibly help the kid out? Ok I'm just rambling now but this to me is more on Adams and i have no doubt if he goes to a legit team he's going to flourish like so many others do elsewhere.

You could have Benson crash the crease in practice and make Power’s life a living hell. But Power would probably end up getting hurt if Benson went all-out pest on him. Worst-case: Benson would get injured overexerting himself.

And Benson still wouldn't score.

How is it anyone defends this guy? In one breath they’re sick of the lack of physicality but when it’s Power, he’ll be fine.

He is a well above average hockey player. You act like he has ruined a good team or something. The Sabres were just so great before he got here, huh?

He will follow those bums Eichel and Reinherdt who never amounted to anything

I know.  I'm awaiting punishment.

The main punishment...   is for Benson (and his points totals this season) and his skating mostly with Cozens and the ghost of Quinn. He's third in LW time on ice and like everyone, he's provided little to nothing (1 goal) on the power play.

I mean Rasmus put up 4 straight 40+ point seasons for us on terrible teams. That's not nothing...

But he did that playing way more minutes than he should have.

He’s a defenseman who doesn’t defend.

I've been saying this for the past 3-4 years. The Buffalo Sabres ARE THE WORST TEAM IN THE  LEAGUE WHEN IT COMES TO CLEARING THE PUCK OUT OF THEIR OWN END!!!!!

My god, how many games and goals has this cost us??

There is not one sober or non-brain-dead GM in the league who would trade Power for Risto.

Don’t recall saying I would either, only that he’s a ginourmous wimp.

Part of me is laughing because I was ridiculed and shouted down for saying power wasn't the best player in his class, the other part is really sad because the Sabres suck and Power isn't good enough.

Owen Power will be fine.

He is 22 years old for Pete's sake.

Call me in 5 or 6 years when we know what he is.

Conn Smythe winner in Seattle?

The problem is right now.   Giving a 21 year old an 8 year contract puts a bullseye on the kid.   Sure he is talented, but he costs us games because he isn’t Dennis Potvin.

The solution for right now is to pair him with better players than Joker/Bryson.  We have been waiting for Adams to help him by pairing him with a veteran that has complimentary skills.

I cannot ever recall seeing him, a 6"6" 220 lbs defensemen clear the crease. I see Sabre forwards always being knocked down in front of the opposing net/goalies, no penalty.

That net front is one area the officials usually allow some leeway to clear the view and they do not provide any consistent support for their goalies there.

Sad dysfunctional drafting from what was supposed to be one area of strength based on our drafts of defensemen.

Defensemen that don't play defense and a host of forwards that can't play physical offense.  Great recipe for amateur hockey but not professional.

you do not even need to clear the crease as they now call that, but you do need to work hard to get in the right position to prevent the easy tips and open far side goals. He shows no interest in improving that. Does not work hard at all in dzone. He is still as physically weak as his rookie year. His teammates need to hold him accountable, or he will never change. That room of losers will never do that though. He should not be on power play in absence of Dahlin either. SB Byrum all day.
