PerreaultForever Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Amid all the palm trees, the blame games, the losing, Quinn sucking badly, Cozens being bad and so forth, the rapid decline of JJ Peterka has largely slipped under the radar. He seemed poised to be a reliable effort player, not great but decent 2 way game for a scorer, 20-30 goals a year maybe, played his way up to the top line, but then the wheels have seemed to come off. He's been trash lately. Soft and ineffective. Lost his top spot lost it all so wtf has happened here? Contract year. Adams might be able to save even more money. I have no idea what has happened to him but you have to admit he's sucking lately. 1 Quote

They don't want to learn how to play real hockey because they can't have fun all the time and they have to work hard. All they want to do is skate up and down the ice and score goals with no responsibility in the defensive zone or on the back check. Edited 9 hours ago by Big Guava 1 Quote

Yes he has been swallowed up in the endless abyss that is the Sabres they have successfully beat the fight out of him like they do all talented players and ahead of schedule too! They must be proud 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago JJP had a very clunky December last season and then a similarly poor February. What he needed to do was to work become more consistent so those months became single weeks. Instead, he's gone the opposite direction. His November he was still getting points, but the defensive game (and TNT's injury) just had him disappear completely. And now it's back-to-back months with December just being a void. Once upon a time JJP-Cozens-Quinn was going to be a potential future 1st line. This season, they need to be kept separate at all costs or it's basically an automatic goal against. Quote

He did have only 2 goals in 18 games through January last year...and then 2 goals in 16 games later in the year as you mentioned.... The drop-off this year is remarkable though. 7 goals in his first 14 games, 22% shooting. Since then 1 goal in 13 games, 3.8% shooting. He is taking the same number of shots per game, up until tonight averaging close to the same ice time. Its like Cozens, his accuracy has just vanished (although I'm not sure if his shots lately are the same quality as they were early in the year). 1 Quote
Crusader1969 Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago I'll state the obvious, the Sabres rely too heavily on players who aren't ready for that level of pressure A good organization insulates young players with vets. They take pressure of the young player but also they provide guidance for when they struggle, as most young players do Quinn, JJP and others have probably never had a significant slump in their hockey careers and are lost when things go south. the "not blocking a young players avenue" turns into another organizational failure. They needed to have to kick down the door for a roster spot , not have a situation where there was no door at all btw. Wouldn't you try reuniting Cozens, Quinn and JJP???? Just to see if there is still some magic there. remember how great they were prior to Quinn's offseason surgery?? 1 Quote
Pimlach Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago Peterka is a good player. Still figuring out the consistency part. Granato sheltered him at times. Ruff wants him to play 2way hockey every shift. He made the first line because they had no one else. Quote

It's the Pegula way. Quote
SABRES 0311 Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Why do we need to talk about Peterka? He doesn’t do anything 😂 J/k Quote
