Good move.  Greenway is back, Krebs should really go back to bottom 6, so the need for Kozak is lessened.

Kozak got a taste of the NHL and he did great.  Now he can go back to work in the AHL and work on things.  This is what normal teams do.

Not sure how this speaks to accountability when he actually out performed some of the other players on this roster but whatever.

He played well, hard and the right way. Good for him. We got Greenway back so his spot was taken. Playing with the big club has to have been a good experience for him and his development. Some of the more experienced and touted young players should use him as an example to follow.

But what I would suggest is that Greenway shouldn't take his spot, the "spot" should be created with someone like Cozens to send a serious message and not allow a 2 tier system where some players get to play no matter what.

If the organization would be foolish enough to replace Kosak for Cozens, it should shut the lights off and get out of the business.

I honestly think this year Cozens has been a net negative player. He is making more mistakes and causing more problems that he is help with.

Kozak, If he hardly scores but hardly makes any costly mistakes, would be better than Cozens at this point, regardless of what each is getting paid.

Now, if the theory is Cozens is so much more talented and its just a matter of time before he starts scoring and will learn to play better without the puck, that is different. But as of right now, Cozens (and Quinn) have hurt this team when they have been on the ice this year.

I can’t believe anyone wants to put an even less experienced player on the ice while we are trying to catch the pack.  Kozak looked decent because the expectations are low, not because he is ready to supplant someone on this roster.

It's inarguable that both Cozens and Quinn are struggling. But both players are immensely more talented than Kosak. That's not to say that either is producing to their talent level. I'm simply not agreeable to replacing either player on the roster with a grinder. Kosak played solidly with the big club. And that experience should help his development and better prepare him for the next time he's called up. For me, I think allowing one's frustration to dictate this particular move will help the team. I'm not on board with it.

temporary measure. Statement. If we want to be serious about accountability we have to get serious about it.

Downgrading players to send a message is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Quinn is not playing. He's watching the games from up high in the arena. If that isn't a serious response by the coach, then I don't know what is.

You are downgrading in raw talent, but it may not be much of a downgrade in on-ice play.

When I say Cozens is a negative player for the sabres I don't mean just stats like plus-minus.  He makes more mistakes out there and his positioning in the neutral zone and defensive zone is questionable, but even worse he takes himself out of plays with dumb decisions.

A less talented player that doesn't do those things is actually better for the team than someone like Cozens who's mental 'thinking' part of the game cause more problems than this talent can make up for.

Of course, if his talent eventually overtakes his mistakes, he'll be a better play...but....waiting...still waiting.....

Short term pain for long term gain?

How would you change things and create a work ethic culture?

Yes that did finally happen. It took longer than it should have but did eventually happen. Cozens and Power have to join him.

Lots of AHL players come up and play well for a few games then the reality of going against the top players in the world night after night sets in. By 10 games in they often become liabilities in the line up. Kulich has more speed skill and is more NHL ready than Kozak. I don't know why they sat him last game. I guess it was because Greenway came back and Lindy did not want to change the 4th line.

As far as Johnson goes that was a big mistake putting him on the first pair if at all in the line up. If they want him to play they have to ease him in but I think he may be the third best D man in Rochester right now so I would have chosen Rathbone or Nikita depending on what was needed.

How many believe this team is normal. Not I, especially over the last 14 years.

What is normal in the NHL?  Playing athletes who provide the best chance to win vs choosing roster spots  based on experience and contract amount?  I say play the better player.  My 3 cents.
