Maybe Ruff has enough pull with Terry to ask him to take a step back. Maybe Karmanis and Ruff can team up in the short-term to try to fix some things sooner than later and hopefully Terry sells the team this spring and thus allows a fresh look. Hmmmm, not to be a skeptic, but I'm skeptical a guy Terry fired a decade ago has the ground to stand on to tell Terry to stand aside, he's coming through. On a side note, what's Regeir up to these days? 2 minutes ago, SwampD said: I want Matt Ellis as head coach. He’d probably be great. Epic Quote
SwampD Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 His behavior in that press conference was absolutely ridiculous and enough to get himself fired, if you ask me. In fact, it explained a lot. His behavior was exactly like the player’s behavior during the no salute fiasco, childish and defensive, and blaming everyone else. This truly is his team and it shows. Nothing changes until Terry sells. We’re totally screwed. 3 4 1 1 Quote

LabattBlue Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 Not that I expect or want it now, but when was the last time Terry was interviewed and or had a press conference as Sabres owner? 3 2 1 1 Quote

Only when he as good news to announce or talk about. He's much more likely to show up at the hiring of someone than the firing. My guess is if he fires Adams, it would be done by press release, and you would not hear from Terry at all until the next guy is hired and he can show up and be all happy and full of smiles. We are hurting up the middle, despite all the draft picks spent there. Dahlin is the best talent on the team. Better than Power Puff. Might be the BEST offensive talent but far from the best defensive talent. I do NOT understand why in a offseason he can't be made into a Center. Plays like one. Though that should Not be our #1 Center. Put him on line with Tage and Tuch #1 for now till we trade for a Top Center or get lucky Walberg or Helinuos. Quote

zow2 Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 It’s amazing to think that Terry wants this aggravation and to have the Sabres part of his portfolio. It’s been a tremendous failure. Sometimes you have to walk away. He bought the team, he wanted to get a Cup for the city, and he failed. If he sells to new ownership and they move the team i’d be sad but would understand. Buffalo was a top 5 hockey market back in the early 2000’s and it’s been destroyed. Quote

COSabreFan Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 I’m not 100% sure Sabres survive in Buffalo. Ownership, management, players and arena are all a complete mess. The only way out is a sale and not sure that goes to someone who keeps team in Buffalo with everything that would entail. Is the best thing going for Sabres the Hot Dog of the game? 3 2 Quote

They were excellent when he bought them and he left them alone. He should remember that lesson. Amerks - they have won nothing under Terry. They are ok at developing the stockpiles of draft picks that he got for demanding his GM to trade star players away. Yahoo for the Amerks! As long as your asking, I think I would rather have Eichel, Reinhart, Montour and Ullmark back and return Tuch, Krebs, Östlund, Kulich, Levi and anyone else we got for these guys. How about you? His daughter - excellent player. She made the most of all the expensive tennis lessons he paid for. Someone said the fact the Bills are great doesn't matter. Most certainly does when Every other franchise is Good too EXCEPT for the Sabres Argue the Last GM was OK but the Coaching sucked, that was why he got fired for getting that wrong Adams should be Fired not for the Coaches but his lack of doing something after Sabres almost made Playoffs and teams wanting some of their players. Been doing business at a Prospect High. Now, no one wants to come here Top 6 Talent wise. Adams needed to Bolster that Team with Top 6 Winger, Top 4 RH Defensive-man and Goalie. Basically kept the Team the same except for a few journey man. Got a Top LH defense-man next year and UPL developed, Levi went down. They changed the way they played and Lost! Again this year Adams only went Part way fixing Bottom 6 and Very good experienced HC to evaluate TEAM. Did nothing to FIX Top 6. "As long as your asking, I think I would rather have Eichel, Reinhart, Montour and Ullmark back and return Tuch, Krebs, Östlund, Kulich, Levi and anyone else we got for these guys. How about you? " Well, we lost with all those players too. Why we are still failing!!!! These Top 6 came closer to Playoffs then any of those guys did with the Sabres. Why, is a different story but that led to them being Jettisoned. Who did get rid of them, ADAMS. Who got that talent back, Adams! Have no problem with Tage, Tuch, Östlund, Kulich and Levi Have a Problem with Cozens, Quinn, Krebs and since they don't score having Peterka, Benson, Kulich, Kosak having to try to make up for this. Like Middlestat having to make up for no 2nd line years past. Why Eichel failed. Sabres need a Top GM talent who Evaluates Rosters properly. Adams just didn't realize early enough the Top 6 he picked weren't good enough. Even that is OK, replace them. Wait, you can't because they are signed long term. #1 reason Adams should be fired for signing them LONG TERM!!!! Two get hurt all the Time and one simply isn't Top 6 materiel! Tuch is a Good 2nd line player. Quote
TRIP65 Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 1 hour ago, PromoTheRobot said: What about the players? Yes, the main Problem is Cozen's, Quinn and Krebs are not Good enough for Top 6. That moves in 1-2 year players who are NOT there yet. Add to that Tage is always hurt and Tuch really isn't a Scorer your Top line isn't up for 1/3 of the games they play to by #1 That means your #1 line really is a Number 2 Line and we have NO #1 line That is on ADAMS. He needed a #1 Center (Had in Eichel). Then Maybe a Peterka Works with a Zucker with #1 Center. Even Benson might work there instead of Zucker. I think as a 2nd line Tuch Tage Kulich would be Great. Number 3 Line could be Greenway McLeod Benson and so on. Can't have Cozen's, Quinn and Krebs on this Roster, maybe one of them but 3 is why we are terribly inconsistent! We are #1 Center away from being a Playoff team and 3 Dead weight players!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 hour ago, Flashsabre said: The fascinating part will be what does Terry do if he cans Adams. Adams was the ultimate yes man. Scared to sneeze without Terry’s permission. The league knows exactly what Pegula is about. No one worth their salt is going to want the job under a meddling owner. And Pegula is not a fan of “NHL people” so who does he get? His buddy Forton? What a mess that would be. Karmanos has been complicit in all this garbage. Selling the team or Terry looking in the mirror and realizing he is the problem aee the only ways things change. Pegula's don't interfere with Beane and McDermott Doubt Pegula interferes with RUFF 1 1 Quote

I had already written off Krebs last year and mentally I am OK with him this year because he is playing slightly better than my super low expections. Cozens is this regime/Adams/Pegula's biggest mistake. What is he and what is he worth? He should be a 3rd line winger. He should be getting paid in the $3.5m dollar range. He should not be on the Power play at all. He should not have an "A". He should be regarded as a player that when he makes dumb mistakes, and he makes a LOT Of them, that he isn't so important that he can't be benched. With little to no power play time and with the 3rd line winger minutes he would likely be a 12-15 goal per year guy. If when you signed him that to that deal, if he didn't want it, then you should have traded him or let someone else offer sheet him. I know, hindsight....etc. You game him the $7m per year. The problem now is you are compounding that mistake by giving him the minutes, the PP time, the center position and the "A", none of which he earns with his play...but rather 'earns' it by the mistake of a contract you offered him and he signed. 2 1 Quote
TRIP65 Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 1 hour ago, mjd1001 said: its not just Adams, its the entire front office plus Pegula. He doesn't make a decision without input from the entire front office (Karmanos, Ventura, Jakubowski, and others) and he doesn't pull the trigger on anything (anything big at least) without running it by Pegula. Firing Adams fixing NOTHING unless/until Pegula changes the structure of how the front office is run, and all the guys below Adams not only do not get promoted, but are gone also because they are the ones giving him input. I cannot fathom the constant cries of "Fire Adams" unless you follow it up with the structure, and all other guys around him, going also. This is a MUST. Ruff knows that too. He knew Adams and gave him a chance. This team is a #1 Center away and getting rid of 3 players too. Cozen's, Quinn and Krebs have got to go. Can't make up for these players lack of scoring. The others get better with them gone and new #1 Center making plays. How good would Tage Tuch and Benson be as a 2nd line!!!!!!!!!!! Got Peterka for the first line, true scorer with a real Playmaker Center. Interm you have Zucker too, maybe Kulich. Bottom 6 is fine with Greenway McLeod Zucker/Kulich. Bottom 3 can be Malenstyn Kosak/Rousek Aube-Kubel/Lafferty Got to be a way to Package Cozens, Krebs, 1st round pick and say a Rosen for a Top Center. Throw in Quinn too. Got to be Teams low with picks that have 30 year old Center and could use talented young players that need 1-2 years more Development on Top AHL lines or Bottom 6 NHL lines. Quinn needs Development and recovery from 2 Injuries (he some day will be great) 1 Quote
