I have been a follower here for decades and rarely post. But I can’t help but think at what point does Gary Bettman step in and say we need a new direction in Buffalo?

The league won't step in for years still. There's still some juice up on the oranges inner skin to squeeze out of the market yet. Once that's been done they'll move the team to their next victim market.

This could turn into something fun...last time the Sabres won a playoff game...

JP Losman was the reigning leader in Bills passing yards for the season before

Willis McGahee just led the team in Rushing.

The Bills thought they had a pretty good rookie in the Secondary, as Donte Whitner just finished his rookie season for them.

Afinogenov was on pace for almost 35 goals for the Sabres but missed a lot of games due to Injury.

JaMarcus Russell was still in college about to be selected First overall in the NFL draft.

No one tweeted because Twitter wasn’t a thing

I have to agree with one thing I read that Buffalo isn’t a free agent destination for big name players. They have to continue to build through the draft or make trades for some unknowns like Regier did.

It isnt currently, but you look no farther that the Bills to know that location isnt the show stopper in FA and Trade no clause... its incompetence... Free Agents will clearly and have clearly given the Bills and Chiefs breaks to come here to win... they dont do that for the Jets build a winner and they wont have an issue.

Off-topic, but if @Thorner or anyone is keen to spend time in an alternate-reality comedy prequel trilogy, I highly recommend the live stage reading collaborations between the George Lucas Talk Show and Star Wars Minute podcasts (shameless plug for SWM). The final one should be posted within a few weeks after some editing. The have beautiful interpretations, lots of laughs, and include a bunch of actors/comedians you know. Haley Joel Osment (who auditioned for kid Anakin back in 1997-98) plays Anakin.

Go to YouTube and search The Naboo Movie / The Great Kamino KaperMustafar Takes L.A.

It is probably the best non-Andor Star Wars since the Rey/Kylo arc of Last Jedi or the first 40 minutes of The Force Awakens... depending on your preferred approach.

TLJ is very nearly a masterpiece but yes

You had three different GM’s and numerous coaches trying to right the ship. Buffalo isn’t a high destination city.

Any player listening today heard excuse after excuse for why KA can't build even a 16th best roster. Destination, salary cap, taxes, palm trees, non linear development, youth, even a hint at the end that the refs screwed us. Why should the players think any differently?

Subtly, one of the funniest things about KA's performance is that he was arguably suggesting that those players who do choose to be here are idiots.

The other thing I truly worry about with this franchise is: The attendance is still low at least from what I see on TV, we are now getting close to 15 years and no playoffs and the young generation in WNY just will not latch onto the Sabres like previous generations did. If the Sabres are not careful, there might be a real change this team is sold and relocates.

I hope I am way off on this but things have to change and fast.

Good thing Brandon Beane wasn't in the audience, because he would have laughed this pathetic poser off the podium.

Funny how the Bills are a destination team in the NFL playing in the same city.

You aren’t way off other than, it may already be too late.  You’d have to be at least college age to have seen a Sabres playoff game as a baby.

and they all lost... and before that Rigas was on a significant budget... not even sure how much free agency there was back then... Canadian farm boys coming from Milepost 62 or Whitehorse wont care about the cold if they are competing for a cup. So, I understand we are not a vacation destination but as a sports town winning I think is most important... become a contender and I think a lot (NOT ALL) but a lot of that goes away... but at this point its totally moot cause IF means nothing.. we are a complete sh9t show and no one is coming here for the weather.

If Pegula sold the Sabres and the team was relocated the Bills would suffer immensely. The fan bases overlap heavily, this is a small market. Pegula would become the most despised person in Buffalo history.

The best question from my perspective, largely because it directly addressed my pre-season belief that the Sabres are ultimately too young and inexperienced to be saddled with playoff expectations, came from Fairburn (I think).  He stated that the Sabres are the league's youngest team, that it is hard to find examples of teams that make the playoffs with a roster as young as the Sabres, and asked Adams how he squares the young roster make-up that Adams chose with his own stated expectation of the playoffs. Sadly, Adams chose a snarky response and stated that he should have signed Craig Anderson again and then we wouldn't be the youngest team and the question wouldn't be asked.  Sigh.

Individual people have their own individual personalities.  We see all kinds who are successful.  There are GMs and coaches who would never scream and pound a table who win and there are those who scream constantly and pound every table who also win.  I do not expect Adams to try to be someone he is not.  In the end, you are judged by results. When he was not being defensive today, his answers would have been fine if he were the GM of the Chicago Blackhawks or San Jose Sharks.  The Sabres are not in year two of a rebuild though.  They are, generously, in year 4.  And that is overlayed on a 13 year playoff drought and on the fact that the current rebuild was initiated not with the sell-off of a group of aging vets but with the trading of a group of players still in their prime who would be a reasonable starting core for a team with Stanley Cup expectations.

Like all GMs, Adams will fail or succeed with the course he has charted.  I'm not expecting a change in approach or direction.

Exactly.... win be relevant... eliminate the toxicity and the players we want will not have a problem... those that want to golf year round may not, but I dont want them I want players to want to come here because they want to win not because they get a pretty umbrella in their drink and can golf in Feb.

Did he really say this?  If so, not only is he an embarrassment being a puppet GM, but now is a d*ck too.

The snark on the "I could have signed Craig Anderson" on the youngest team question is the one that really got to me as well. As soon as I heard that I just thought total F U.   How stupid do you think Buffalo fans are?

The Adams plan, build the youngest team in the league and then use youngest team as an excuse for your failure. Foolproof.

I did love the question about the cap though. I think it was Lance sticking it to his answer saying the whole world knows you don't need the money to pay Quinn and Levi. That was good to see him squirm on that one, especially after his lame defense of Power and his contract.

Same old bs. Sure there's destination issues, so think outside the box. Do your job. You can grow palm trees indoors you know.

This is sadly one of the most unlikeable teams in pro sports right now

IMO, Dahlin should have the C removed.

I don't see how this team makes the playoffs.

I feel bad for Lindy / also wish he could get more out of this team

My son's local 10U team has two kids out of 15 that are "Sabres fans".  TWO!

Kev gave some slimmy answers in that presser.  You can see how he worm-tongued his way into the GM job.

This is a real risk with how fandom works nowadays. Everything is everywhere. Kids will often gravitate to players, teams outside their market. Especially outside this market.

The 3PM WGR boys are hitting the nail on the head right now re: the Adams presser.

I never tune in right at 3:00 but I made a point of it today. It's as good as expected.
