Yep….he’ll also talk about how much they still have confidence in the players and coaches…..and that they’re still in the playoff hunt.    Had they not blown the game against the Av’s, this so-called media session would not happen….so it is apparent he is aware of all the toxic feelings associated with him.

On one hand I hope it ugly tonight so the heat is extra hot tomorrow. On the other hand I want to have fun tonight. I’m not sure where to invest my hopes and dreams.

My guess would 1 of 3 things

1. Adams is being promoted to Hockey Operations and Karmanos takes the GM role (Technically changes the GM and adds a POHO to help cover Pegula's absences)

2. Purely a media appearance to spew the typical messages or hope and belief with no underlying changes

3. Something to do with Lindy Ruff either retiring or being made POHO with Appert taking over.

What heat? From fanboi “journalists” ?  Media questioning isn’t “heat.  It’s bread and circuses.  Noting of note.  Just words flying out of his ass.  It means nothing.  A certain segment of the fanbase thinks all will be resolved if some dorks ask this guys some “tough questions”.  They are just words, without action they mean nothing.

I pick #1 in hopes that Karmanos is taken more seriously and can make trades that improve the club without giving away the best pieces.   I think Karmanos is highly thought of and will have opportunities outside of Buffalo.  

Most likely its #2.  

Please not #3.

I don't think Karmanos will ever be named GM here. I know a lot of people here want that and he is held in high esteem, and he might be a smart guy, but I don't think he's a TP yes man and so I do not think he ever gets that role. If Adams is fired Forton will get it. Perhaps as an interim initially.

I agree- minus the word "promotion". Don't think they'll be saying that tomorrow.

It makes no sense for Adams to make a conference with media before a practice on a Friday to discuss that the team sucks. They hired Lindy to do that and he actually does a pretty solid job of detailing issues in their games and how they will improve.

Im guessing he'll say hes stepping down, Karmanos will take over in the meantime, he'll stay on as advisor for Pegula's and to help out and the "promotion" text will come in a few months that Adams no longer just helping out but taking up a promoted higher management role.

This is a nice dream but do you really think Terry would give him a farewell presser? I don't see that happening, even for a loyalist.

Karmanos as gm...I have a question:  How would things be different?

We have heard over and over that decisions on roster and players are not made by one person, but are more of a 'group think' exercise.  Its like a bunch of guys sit around the table, and its more of a consensus with one or two dissenting opions.

Now, Adams has said that is how it works. Pegula I think has said it. We have video of the 'behind the scenes' over the last few years on draft day and preparing for the draft that SHOWS us that is how it works with this team. As much as Adams may or may not be the problem wouldn't you need to change the process, how this team makes roster decisions, before any GM change can really mean much?

So, if Adams is fired, wouldn't Pegula probably have the room 'without Adams' as gm operate the same way?  Even if he didn't, was Karmanos part of the decision making group that was making the decisions that got us here?  And finally, if Adams is 'bumped up' to a different position but is still in that room....wouldn't the ONLY 2 things that change would be who picks up the phone to make the final phone calls and the title on the nameplate on the desk or door?

 

I know people want Adams gone, but how are things any different unless Adams is TOTALLY out of the organization, AND most or all of that entire decision making group (including Karmaos) are gone, AND Pegula declares the new guy has autonomy and the old way of 'consensus making' is done in his building?
