I predict the Sabres will be better defensively without 26.

For a single game or 2, quite possibly.  The rest of the D group (and the F's too) know that he won't be available and they'll have to be at the tops of their games to make up for him being out.  That extra push is possible for short stints, but if he ends up out 10 or 20 games, they're forked.  They aren't good enough to collectively play at a high enough level to make up for his absence when they don't have the adrenaline of the immediacy of his absence.

I get the humor part of it.   I just think if folks are gonna complain about the GDT title contents then lets discuss the key requirements.

It appears to be:  who is playing, where, when, and what the TV coverage is.

Since you are already on a device/computer to be on Sabre Space, you can always google "NHL games" and get the teams, the where, and the when (converted to your current time zone).  Click on the game and you get the broadcast streaming info and other game details.

And so? No title? Just GDT: Game 17 ? GDT?

What recent victories?  Haven't they lost 4 in a row too?

The team winning shouldn’t leave fans “scratching their heads”. Part of the reason the collapse is so big after the losses is because “signs” and “turning points” are commonly, supposedly found in individual wins. It’s the nhl: wins are inevitable. Inevitable. We need to keep focused on the macro

Having said that, it’s winnipeg

MUST WIN

3. Being serious. Is it too much to ask to have a standard format? I know the mods are super duper busy (their work never ends), but they are the ones who should clean 'em up.

Someone should question Punch's motivation for saying the GDT doesn't need to make it clear where the game is. Dodo must be up his ass about caulking the bathtub.

I am asking the group for GDT title requirements so as to help everyone that is kind enough to start one, that is my motivation.

For myself, I look at the actual schedule so I know if we are home or away.  I only really use the GDT other than to see if its on EPSN+ or on TNT/ESPN/NHLN, etc.

My wife knows the schedule too.  She looks at her trusty Sabres and Bills refrigerator magnet schedule and then proclaims stuff like "the Sabres are on at 7:00 so I guess I will be a widow tonight while you go down to your mancave to watch them".   (Plug to Amherst Ale House)

Funny you mention caulking the bathtub.  She is complaining about the caulk in the shower being "too hard to keep clean".  Her solution is that we should update the entire bathroom.   Shower, tub, toilet, sinks, vanity, floor, paint, all fixtures, trim, everything - she wants it all updated and she wants to call a few contractors after the Holidays and get quotes.   I of course want to defer this for another year, or maybe another decade.

Should be a close one.

We've lost 4 in a row and can't score.

Ehlers is out...Samberg is out and Scheifele is playing hurt.

I wonder if Comrie starts?

Good luck boys and let's hope the refs call a fair game!

Bout equal on the injury from with Dahlin, Greenway and Samuelsson out

Read my words below.  Note the bolded.  They are the minimal requirements that I have gathered so far from reading the thread.

Winnipeg has stunk recently. They've dropped 7/10 and 4 in a row. Do we get "good Sabres" that we saw before this current skid, or do the Sabres get to be the slump buster again? There's no earthly way to tell with this team. I'm not sure there's a more schizophrenic team in hockey the last 2 seasons.

This can work. It's the collective push without TNT (or Auston Matthews) at the top of the lineup. But like you say, for an extended time, it will collapse because the players who would need to take up Dahlin's minutes, are even younger than he is and still need to develop a bunch more of their all-around games.

Now, it could be really beneficial for next season because Power develops faster. But this team isn't better, and doesn't have the collective makeup, to go without their best player for a lengthy time. The worst-case scenario is it would lead GM Sheevyn to believe that Power/Byram are already the answer and don't need that D-zone veteran (don't worry, he's already going to do that anyway).

GDT 26: The GD Threadening

Whoever writes it first gets the honor of picking the style, format, content, or lack thereof.

Just stop.  Is the format of the GDT thread title that big of a deal?👎🏻

I have no idea how this one goes. We either get a slumping Jets team that thinks it's an easy game and continues their slump or we get a Jets team that decided this is the moment to end the slide and they hit us literally and figuratively full force. Could be either one.

History would suggest we often end team's losing streaks.

They're really missing Samberg as a 2LHD and the still continue to trot out that liability pylon named Stanley.

Don't mean to bitch but this is the Jets' 13th game in 26 nights where they haven't played in the same city twice in a row. They play in Chicago on Saturday and back home on Sunday for Columbus which will make 15 games in 29 days without playing in the same city two games in a row. Don't get me started about the time zone changes during this period. Expect to see a team that loses energy in the 3rd and maybe even sooner.

Say goodbye to $25k or more(for what used to be a $10-15k project before Covid hit).

Silver lining…we can’t take it(💵💵💵) with us when we die.

At least the GDT infighting is distracting us from the actual team. Last game, I said it was going get ugly. That happened in a way I didn't have on my Bingo card. No clue what to expect tonight. Here is my pregame speech to the team courtesy of Rob Ray:

"You just gotta shake that last game off. You did a lot of good things and built a big lead. You let it get away from you at the end. Establish a physical game early against this team and they'll probably go away. Forecheck, deep, corners. Pucks to the net and guys going hard. Speaking of guys going hard, I was at a bed and breakfast with Matty Ellis the other day..."

It's always darkest before the dawn.

Today is the day.

Mark this date in Sabres history as the day the franchise officially resurrected itself from the depths of hockey hell, and began it's march forward to Stanley Cup glory.
