DarthEbriate Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Canceling media, sure. But, I'm not sure less practice is what they need. 5 minutes ago, pi2000 said: turning point I mean, it's silly, but the Predators canceled their U2 show last year and won like 14 games in a row or something stupid. Sometimes the stupid thing works (in the short term). Quote

Lindy Ruff may be a good coach. I think he is. Any doubt I had listening to him talk about hockey and I think he is. When he talks to the media, he talks differently than Granato. He talks about what needs to change. He identifies what went wrong and how to change it. He talks about how players are playing well and what needs to be done when they aren't. He brings up things that I haven't thought about, and I haven't heard on this forum from anyone else (specifics). I think he knows hockey, he knows how to coach, and the game has not 'passed him buy'. BUT...there comes a point where what do you do if you aren't getting through to the players? What else can be done? My impression, and this is the positive spin on Lindy....is that he identifies a problem with the team or individual players, talks to them about it, addresses it, it gets 'fixed' for a game or two, but then the players just keep falling back into the same habits in short order? If as a coach you address an issue, take care of it, but the players keep on doing it in the future, what else can you do? And I know on this board I'm back to blasting Cozens (and Quinn) like almost never before, but they make SO many bad plays without the puck. They are so awful and bring negatives to the team when they aren't scoring (and they sure aren't doing that), that why do you keep playing them? Why does Cozens continue to get the 3rd or 4th most ice time on the team? Why are they near the top of the team in offensive zone starts? Why does Cozens, DYLAN COZENS, lead your forwards in power play ice time? (and Quinn is 6th, being a fixture on your 2nd unit)? I'm flabbergasted by Lindy continuing to roll those guys out there. Nothing says they are doing anything besides hurting the team. The stats (production and plus-minus), even the advanced stats that are 'good' have to be taken with a grain of salt knowing their zone starts and their low shooting percentage. They devastate their own D-men and hang them out to dry making them look worse than they are. All I can think is that Lindy is getting strong encouragement, if not direct orders, from above to keep playing them (Adams or Pegula or both). It doesn't make sense that Lindy would just roll them out there like he is otherwise. Quote

I'd be happy with Lindy talking to the media and calling out names. Just lay into people. Would it help the team play better? Maybe not, but I know Lindy has that in him and I'd just be happy to hear it at this point (make me feel SOMETHING about the team). Quote

As much as I’ve said, repeatedly, this regime should get the full season, in my heart of hearts I think I know it’s time, now Quote

So, maybe... that would explain the media part... but giving them a day off skating... no practice etc... that seems weird... but maybe that is what's happening... I am not holding out much hope for a big breaking story... its probably this... and or they just don't want to talk to the media... that isn't surprising.. Quote

Why not rip them a new one and have a hard practice? This team wanted accountability right? 1 Quote

#freejame Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago Lindy was going to take away the team sauna, but Mike Bales pulled him aside and said he was worried it would throw UPL off his game. Moving forward only Scandinavians are allowed in the sauna, the rest of the team must stick to the hot tub and cold plunge. 2 Quote
HumanSlinky39 Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago (edited) If they don't shake up the roster, what's the point? It's abundantly clear this roster is not constructed well enough to compete at a high level. Continuing to throw the same guys out there and expecting different results is just ramming your head into a brick wall. DO SOMETHING. Edited 8 hours ago by HumanSlinky39 Quote

I would also add that those said players need a conditioning assignment to Rochester (sorry for that ruining your Amerks experience) or less ice time replaced with the players who are playing the right way even if the result may still be a loss. Reward more the efforts not just the potential results. Edited 7 hours ago by R_Dudley Quote

Pretty much; if he skates them into the ground today, which he may want to, he may have a very tired team for the game tomorrow. If he tears them a new one with video; the team will either wilt and thus get bag skated the next time they aren't playing the following day or play with their pants on fire against the Jets to avoid being yelled at again. irregularly irregular Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago Whatever they were practicing before today wasn't working, so why not just not practice? Could it be worse? Please don't answer that question. Quote
