Mango Posted December 4 Report Posted December 4 Remember when he announced the captains. What an incredibly weird thing for a GM to do. 2 1 Quote

Too much credit. 11 hours ago, Kr632 said: They were already that before he was named GM This is why. You can't give Adams credit for anything, including this. All he's done is maintain the status quo. Which isn't totally fair, he's done things as the GM. However, he's as effective as the guy shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. So.. that's that. The Sabres hit the iceberg when Pegula bought the team. The boat has been sinking ever since. 3 Quote
JP51 Posted December 4 Report Posted December 4 The only thing Adams has done is trade away top talent, accumulate bottom feeders and reclamation projects and maintained one of the softest cores I have ever seen in any team in any sport. He has set this team back 5 years from the day he ultimately gets fired. 1 1 Quote

Crusader1969 Posted December 4 Report Posted December 4 My next crusade is to defend Owen Power. Another HUGE failure is not to get him a legit partner to play with Luke Hughes, very similar profile to Power get Pesce and Power get Jokiharju??? The Sabres are the franchise that ruined Risto. Taking an offensive minded dman to become something he wasn't - a shut down defender. Just because he is 6'4. they almost ruined Dahlin, thankfully Granato and Dahlins pure ability saved him. Probably still not the player he could havd been if he had anyone to mentor him. Closest thing they had was Johnson last season now they are trying the same thing with Power. He is never going to be a shut down type. He's never going to be out there laying people out. BUT that doesn't mean he isn't a valuable piece. Let him be an offensive force. the time is now. Boot both Jokiharju and Bryson to the curb and bring in a proper d partner that can allow Owen to create offence while his partner supports him. Sabres fans are always quick to want to run out their players who are / will be good out of town The list is long Eichel, Dahlin, Mitts and the most egregious one of all Samson Reinhart Time to realize it's the Brysons and Jokiharjus of the world that need to go and replaced by legit Vet NHL dmen 1 Quote

There was no space to get a Brad Peche type defender and overpay. Adams deserves all the criticism for doubling/tripling/quadrupling down on the puck moving defenseman. No disagreement that Owen should be paired with a respectable vet but decisions were made to trade for a similar piece to Dahlin and him. Knowing that none of the three were going to receive third line minutes this meant that some combination of Dahlin, Power and Byrum would be playing together often….and it’s translating to horrible play in our own zone. Especially when you add in other possible pairings like Bryson and Joki. He should have moved one of Dahlin, Power or Bryum for a top 3/6 forward, moved Joki to the third line and traded/signed two competent defenders (Weegar or Peche types) to play with the two you did keep with cap space you opened by moving one of the top three. If Adams is dead man walking (and I hope to God he is), I hope he is replaced sooner than later, b/c Dahlin NTC kicks in July 1st, and if there will be a massive shakeup to the roster, move as much money off the blue line and replace with able-bodied big men (not boys). They have plenty of cap room to add a quality top 4 dman, especially if you move out Jokiharju. Cap going up and you have Clifton coming off the books at the end of the season (I believe) in Columbus they attribute the the year Werenski is having to playing along side Provorov (stay at home dman) at this point, Adams needs to overpay to bring in another top 4 dman. they also should find a low cost vet bottom pair guy who can kill penalties. Take that responsibility totally away from Power Quote

Let Power create offense, like the stats show he can and scoring will follow. not that I wouldn't want another scorer as well but top 4 dman is the priority 5 minutes ago, SwampD said: Power is 6'5". (I think) Of course, upgrade wherever and whenever you can, but when I think of our losses, it's been because we never got that timely goal from anyone. When we won out west, It was because of our goalies and D. 1 Quote
