What has happened to Greenway

It feels like he has been out forever and there has been no update.  Doesn't even feel like he is on the team.

The team is definitely better when he is on the ice.

You can thank the wonderful NHL stupidity and their ambiguous day to day week to week nonsense.  If they just went with 4-8 weeks from the start, we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

We are missing him for sure.  With Greenway we have a big forward that plays a strong defensives game, a strong PK, can chip in offensively, and has a physical presence.

They miss him desperately.  They need to infuse the roster with more Greenways, less Quinn’s.

I agree that they miss him.  What is a shame is that his absence makes that much of a difference.  He’s not a superstar, but he can still bring an element that is so desperately lacking on this team….which is really sad.  Once again, a POORLY constructed team that has no backfill for his style of play.

Poorly constructed team.  Perfect 3 word summary of this 13+ year train wreck.

Yup. Since Pegula took over they have never valued grinders, muckers, checkers, 2 way guys with grit, whatever you want to call them. Last 2 years there's been a small recognition of this and so they've brought in Greenway, Malentstyn, Gilbert, but nothing for the core really. Nothing substantial. It's a long standing mistake most exemplified by trading away Foligno. 

You need a balanced roster and you need toughness with your speed and finesse. It's never really been any different and why they haven't got that is beyond me (but likely because of Pegula and what he wants and values).
