This right here is the common denominator right now. The Sabres are a farm team for the other 31 NHL teams. Didn't get what you needed in the draft? No worries, Buffalo has what you need. Quote

I think that’s where the anger comes from at least for me, but probably most of us. Cheering for a loser of a team but one that is giving it their all is way different than cheering for a loser of a team where it looks like they’re OK with a loss. I just think it’s hard for most of us to honestly comprehend how a professional athlete can have that demeanor, especially at that young of an age which most of our guys are. Anytime I ever played competitive sports I played with my hair on fire. I generally wasn’t the most athletic person on the field— I was up there, but there’s usually at least one or two special people who exist that you know we’re going on to do big things— but I never went down without swinging. I suspect that most of the people on this forum are the same way, and there’s this odd energy that had overtaken the team for most of this drought where it looks like they’re barely working up a sweat. It’s genuinely hard to compute that as we sit here and watch them, wishing we could be 22 years old with the $50 million contract getting out on the ice every night as a pro hockey player. What I’m wondering now is if one of the big variables that has destroyed this franchise is a lack of ability to vet a prospects personality versus their physical traits alone. I think whoever’s been in charge of that and the different people who have been have forgotten how important it is to understand the psychology and personality of a prospect. the only one that seems like they have it right of all the guys we’ve had in the last decade plus is Benson. He’s the only one that shows up every night with the energy and the attitude that we would expect out of a guy that age getting his pro shot. Edited yesterday at 02:35 AM by K012010 2 1 Quote

Thorner Posted yesterday at 02:31 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:31 AM If “Appert” is uttered more than 2, 3 times tops in a GDT, it’s not a good sign for the in-game performance of the sabres 1 Quote
Carmel Corn Posted yesterday at 02:32 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:32 AM (edited) Part of me wishes the rest of the conference was playing better such that Buffalo would already be further away from a playoff spot. Being "close" to a playoff position makes them feel too comfortable with losing these kinds of games.....after all, they're close and they will figure it out without playing the desperate hockey they actually need to be right now. D has to pinch to add to any offense generated because forwards can't " cut the mustard." Probably why we give up so many odd man rushes. Or an outside hire that Pegula only approves if that outside hire will defer to him....and again more of the same. Quote
Second Line Center Posted yesterday at 02:35 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:35 AM Washington. No OV? Oh and he’s 40 years old? No problem. 16-6 and beating NJ 6-4 right now. There is something grossly wrong here. New coach again. Everything looks exactly the same. 1 2 Quote
Mr Peabody Posted yesterday at 02:35 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:35 AM Isn’t it sad that Benson sticks out like he’s some kind of freak for his hustle and gritty play? Tells you all you need to know about this roster. 1 Quote

We continue to bring in the same low energy, passive prospects. It’s not about physical talent, it’s the attitude and personality we’re consistently getting wrong. mjd1001 Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM This team isn't playing bad defensively today. I can't find an major errors in any of the goals allowed. Its just their scoring has totally vanished (almost totally). 12 goals in 7 games (including tonight) just doesn't cut it. Nor does it make for entertaining hockey for the fans to watch. Quote
Carmel Corn Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:38 AM GMKA and Lindy "could" send a strong message by stripping all the so-called leaders of their letters. As another poster said, leadership has to be earned from this point going forward. 1 Quote

mjd1001 Posted yesterday at 02:40 AM Report Posted yesterday at 02:40 AM Cozens just isn't a good shooter. He had the one-timer lined up, and he's not able to pick corners. He pretty much shot it right toward the center of the net and almost into the goaltender. 2 Quote
