French Collection Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 Another smothering team with a good goalie. Get that PP going and get a lead. Reimer probably starts and needs an effort like his last one. Quote
CallawaySabres Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 Teams that lose 3 in row this time of year, last 2 at home, just don’t make playoffs. Are they still the same old drought team or not? They are currently showing that they still are. Quote

They are status quo. 12 points in the second 10 games was really good for this team the last two seasons. But so far in the third segment they are back to baseline. Three three game winning streaks and working on their third three game losing streak right now. They are the definition of meh. Again. 4 1 Quote

Scottysabres Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 Tough last 2 games. 1 goal game, ot loss. Get right in the head boys, don't let it eat at you. Learn from it, be resilient, adapt, overcome and push through to victory. Go Sabres! 1 1 2 Quote

I always find it interesting to see whether people consider something an initialisms or an abbreviation. There’s something to be determined from which you use, but I’m not sure what. For the record, I read your “MW” as must win and then had to reread it to appreciate it as “Em Double-Yew.” We better ***** win this one. Go Sabres. Edited November 30 by #freejame 1 Quote

The context of my response was to another poster saying this feels like a must win. So i just used MW. I did not know what you meant by "initialisms" either so I looked it up. We called all of that stuff acronyms at one time, but in todays world, were excessive and precise labelling is common, I now understand there is a difference between an acronym and an initialism. Huh. Quote

First team I looked at was the Washington capitals last season in Nov they had a 3 game losing streak, in Dec they had a 4 game losing streak and in January they lost 7 in a row 1 Quote

Seriously they lost a game they deserved better from vs Minny and came back from 3-1 down vs Vancouver they combine for a record of 19-3-3 on the road. A lot of teams have lost at home to them and a bunch will make the playoffs it's like a huge part of the Sabres fan base has zero clue of what's going on in the league Quote
Stoner Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 NASA is an acronym. NYKTROTS an initialism. Quote
Doohicksie Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 I had the NYKTROTS once. Thank goodness for Immodium. 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 I pronounce MW as an acronym just to mess with people's heads. Quote
R_Dudley Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 From a 3-win series to another potential 3 loss one. Still going with the previous ground hog day season potential again, a tease like that Meatloaf High school cheerleader, get you to rounding 3rd base and get the "Stop right there!". Lets stop the losing right here as Lindy preaches, along with this Manic Weirdness. 2 Quote
nfreeman Posted November 30 Report Posted November 30 I'll be at the game tonight with a good crew of 6 Sabres fans. If any other SabreSpacers are attending and want to say hello, that would be great -- pls PM me. IMHO, this game isn't a must win for them to make the playoffs, but it is a MW to ward off fan despair. We've seen this crappy movie too many times before. Even so, I thought they played very well vs Minny and decently vs Vancouver. They are greatly improved over last season. I don't think they are far off from being a legit good team. Dahlin's mojo is back, the goaltending has been very good, TT has been very good and I think Cozens has found his game again. They just need Quinn and JJP to raise their games and be the good top-6 forwards that @Pimlach correctly notes they are currently missing. Go Sabres. 3 1 Quote

Way to represent tonight Rico and I hope you can bring us a W. Quinn, JJP, especially Cozens, and even Benson ... I am not leaving any of them out. They are top 6 on this team, Adams went with them in this pivotal season so they need to show up. Reimer is a big key also but it would be nice if we had an offensive explosion tonight and a comfortable win. Me and my Woodford Reserve will be watching. 1 Quote

Agree. I posted very little in the GDT yesterday. Normally I'll post 10-15 times, but I logged off because it was just too negative for me. As for the game, yeah, any NHL team can beat any other on any night, but this Sabres team is better than the Islanders. They have more points, and even then a lot of the Isles points are "OT loser points". The Sabres are positive in goal differential, while the Isles are tied for 4th worse at -12. If the Sabres lose its not the end of their playoff chances at all, but by every measure this is a 'should win' if you want to be considered a semi-serious team at this point in the season. Get it done. Edited November 30 by mjd1001 3 Quote

I'm with you. Tired of it al, especially on game day threads. I guess misery truly does love company. I honestly can't understand how anyone can watch the Sabres this season and not be in a positive frame of mind when you consider how they looked under Granato 2 Quote
