... Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 That 6v5 and the PP generally still suffer from too little movement. The only real shortcoming they had this game was not figuring out how to get Gustavsson moving. 1 1 Quote
OverPowerYou Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 Id be ok if they traded Tage and Cozens 1 1 Quote
Ctaeth Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 feels bad to not get a point there. oh well on to the next Quote
Pimlach Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 (edited) 39 shots and we just couldn’t get one by him. Lots of opportunities. I thought we played a good game against a team that is further along. A game like this makes the losses to bad hockey teams hurt more. I hate wasting the great game that UPL had. Nothing they can do but get back to work. Edited November 28 by Pimlach 4 Quote
K012010 Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 Just now, Believer said: Yes they are a very good team. Not one of our better games, imo. Too disorganized. No jump. Respectfully of course, I just really disagree here. I don’t know how you can watch this game and not be pleased with what they did tonight. I disagree with the no jump, although could’ve used more physicality. I think that’s a recurring issue. Physicality sparks energy. I also don’t agree with the disorganization aspect. How so? We didn’t even have one penalty tonight I believe. Two offside were sloppy, but we got great chances and kept it simple and got it to the net. More physicality in front of the net will help imo. I’ve watched every game this year like most of you. This was absolutely one of their better efforts imo. They actually looked like a competent, consistent professional hockey team against a great opponent that works to limit chances and has a great goalie. This is not the same as the other losses this year. 6 2 Quote
Carmel Corn Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 (edited) We still need a Bonaire top 6 scorer. Crap...spell checker. BONAFIDE Edited November 28 by Carmel Corn 1 Quote
zow2 Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 That’s a game the Sabres win 3 out of 4 times. They were just stoned by a great goaltending effort. Not much you can do, just try not to let one loss turn into 2/3 more in a row. I was more impressed by their effort in a loss than i was in some recent wins. they even out i guess. Still not a playoff team in my opinion as it will be very competitive for probably just one spot, but Lindy has made them better. 4 1 Quote

Yeah at first I thought it was there too, but another angle showed it would’ve been a terrible decision to pass. Surprised at the inability of Tage to snag a corner there though. Hit Gus in the chest lol. Quote
Flashsabre Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 (edited) No shame there. That was a hell of a game. Minnesota are a legit team that play a very fast and hard game and Buffalo stood toe to toe with them all night but just couldn’t find that goal. You always want Tage to shoot but man if he slid it over to JJ there at the end I think the game is tied. If they play that game every night they are a playoff team. Lindy has them playing a playoff style. Regroup and come out hard next game. This team is rounding into shape. Adams does need to bring in another proven scorer. I love Benson’s game but he is not ready to be an offensive threat yet. Bring in a legit scorer and move Benson down to the third line. Edited November 28 by Flashsabre 3 2 Quote
Doohicksie Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 Here's what I think: Lindy's line shuffling didn't work. And I'm disappointed that he didn't switch things up as the game went on. Quote

Crusader1969 Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 Gonna have a games like this. Great opponent, goaltender was dialed-in come with that effort every night, you are gonna win a lot more than you lose on to the next one 2 Quote

Gatorman0519 Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 Desperately need a true #2 center and a scoring winger. We all knew this going in. 1 Quote

That said, I didn’t see any reason to stick with tonight’s lines. McLeod should play more minutes than Krebs. Cozens logged almost 20 mins chasing Kaprizov around. 1 1 Quote
JohnC Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 Minnesota is one of the best teams in the league. We matched them, if not slightly played better. Their goalie was outstanding, making saves and not giving up rebounds. UPL was also superb. As others have said, if the Sabres consistently play at this level, they will be in good shape. One of the most encouraging things about this game was the play of Quinn. He played with more confidence in the offensive zone, getting off a number of good shots. Tage also got off a lot of powerful shots. You can see that Lindy is getting through to his team on how he wants them to play i.e. with structure and responsible play in their zone. I'm disappointed with the loss but am pleased with how this team played. The Sabres had no lulls in this game from what I witnessed. Not much scoring but a good game to watch. 2 1 Quote

I didn’t until well into the third period. Needed to get physical and didn’t even try. Zero hits early and only three hits in the whole period. Got suffocated and couldn’t respond. Hot goaltender stopped us when we put it on net. Wild is a better team. No shame in this loss. Wanted that 4th win. Next. Quote
ska-T Chitown Posted November 28 Report Posted November 28 I'll take the "L" on this one ... I watched less than an actual minute of live game play ... and it was the 4 v 1. The boys could feel I was watching and got nervous. My bad. Quote

We do need to make some moves imo. Greenway is our only physical presence. I want more hitting too, and we need a proven scorer. Quinn, Cozens, Benson, and probably Tuch too are just not providing enough. I hope Kevin makes a couple serious moves because I’m liking a lot of what we’re doing. Onto the next. New streak starting Friday. 3 minutes ago, JohnC said: You misinterpreted the point the poster wanted to make. He wants a top 6 scorer who has a bonerrrrr. The kids would have had to pick up the slack. Most of them the opposite, very little production. At this point in time it should not of been a problem. 1 Quote

The puck didn't bounce their way tonight Overall, they are 13th in goals per game. That's with Quinn, just starting to get back to himself and missing a few games without Tage Not to mention the PP finally resembling a legit NHL unit that should score some goals it's not a moral victory but there is no denying that they win way more than they lose by playing the way they did tonight 1 Quote
