It’s not always for player movement.

But that's not as fun.

Yzerman recently traded away Hronek and Walman to remove blockers for up-and-coming d-men and you know that GM Sheevyn just loves Johansson (thinly built LHD).

There’s also a second team on the ice at every game. I love these reports of scouts each year. I’m sure sometimes it has actually led to something, but it’s reported so damn often that it has to be at around a 5% hit rate.

It was Jeremiah Crowe who is the director of pro scouting for a couple of few games and AGM Jason Karmanos. Last time this happen the Byram Trade was completed a few days later. It very well could mean nothing as you mentioned.

Karmanos doesn't scout games for future meetings between the 2 clubs. If he's there, it's for roster personnel reasons.

My oldest daughter played for women's NU 10 yrs ago. That led to her being an ice cleaner during games the past 4 yrs and an intern photographer at games. We were talking about the scouts sightings at games a couple years ago. She knows many in the organization and you are correct, they scout teams a majority of the time for up coming meetings.

But the AGM is never attending other games without being there for roster purposes she disclosed. The peers in her circle talk about it when the GM or AGM attend other games, means they are looking at someone, even if it never sees conversation between the clubs. Just what she has told me is all.

Michael Rasmussen is the logical trade target. We have lost Greenway and his contract is going into UFA status. He would be a suitable replacement and is cost controlled for a number of years. Byram is way too much to pay but if they want Greenway plus one of the bottom 6 D men It might work. There are a lot of combinations that could work that trade. Just not sure what Wings are looking for.

Yes, he is a similar player to Greenway, I have not seen a lot of him but similar size and maybe a slight touch more scoring skill.

I would swap Joker for Rasmussen.

Well last time Ruff had a Rasmussen it worked rather well.

Rasmussen would be an excellent pick up but they aren't dumping him for that offer. Greenway might not even play again this year and he's a UFA. He's a popular guy there though so unless Stevie Y is planning another tear down I doubt they let him go unless a high draft pick is involved. How high? No idea.

Man of Glass blocked some shots against Chicago so no doubt he'll be on IR soon.

Rasmussen doesn't exactly have great stats nor analytics as well as 4x3mil+ contract. It may be solely a look to shakeup their roster.

Jokiharju and Lafferty for Petry and Rasmussen

It might, but they don't have much grit on that team so I'd question them giving that up just to clear out money and Yzerman would be nuts to take that deal.

The fake Elliot Friedman account is kind of annoying though. That idiot really wants a Buffalo Detroit deal and twitter can't seem to tell the difference between Hockey Night in Canada and Hockey In Canada Night.

Both trades show Yzerman isn't that competent imo.

that wasn't the reference and you know it. You mocked me when I placed Compher at the top of my free agent list and you mocked the Yzerplan. You were wrong, but of course you will never admit it.

Doesn't matter. Lets see what the Sabres can do against that boring Islander shut down.

But but but, you told me I was wrong about the Yzerplan!?!? How can they be thinking of doing a tear down?

Guess I wasn't wrong, well at least about Detroit, I've been wrong about other stuff.

Hronek was a UFA I believe, so at least they got something (1st = Axel Sandin Pellikka). The Wings should've probably just tried harder to extend Hronek though, given he wouldn't break the bank and would be great on Edvinsson's right side (just as he's doing for Hughes).

Walman is a weird cap dump. He's not great, certainly. Just a 4-6, but he scores some goals and blocks a lot of shots. (Sabres fans wouldn't love him because he throws fewer hits than Jokiharju, but more than Power.) But to have to move a 2nd and him and receive "future considerations" for it, is goofy, especially since they still have $3M in cap space even with Husso's salary counting as dead cap because he's in Grand Rapids. Their 3D pair isn't any better with Gustafsson on it than it would be with Walman. 2nd = Leo Sahlin Wallenius who is another LHD.

He traded away Määttä also, he plays on Utahs' first pair with Sergachev. That and getting rid of Walman, while having signed Justin Holl to a three year contract is not looking good. It is only Yzerman that keeps his job after that.

Good call on Määttä. I'd forgotten he'd been in Detroit, too. Crafty veteran who is a LHD but has consistently played on the right side throughout his career. Traded for a 3rd with 2/3 of a season remaining.

Not sure about that. We’re bottom in the east, 4th bottom in the whole league. We are still an absolute mess.
