On a side note thought Quinn was better in the corners tonight... little more speed in his game... not incredible but better..

I do appreciate this update.

Do we know if Quinn has hair on his balls?

tbh a pretty boring hockey game but they came out on the right side of it. PK was really good and they got the one goal so all is well. UPL very good. The last 2 minutes they were so passive I thought they were going to blow it. LA in full control there but they missed their best shots and it was UPL's game.

LA plays a boring style though that's for sure.

Nah, great D and goaltending gets me excited.

I just saw a five-minute capsulation of the game so can only superficially comment. Stating the obvious, UPL was outstanding. This was Vezina caliber netminding. On Zucker's goal he was in front of the net battling for position to redirect Tuck's shot. The net presence under Lindy is so much better than under the other coaches.  As someone else stated, Lindy is imprinting a tougher and more responsible brand of hockey. There is less perimeter and more interior gritty play with him behind the bench.

UPL is separating himself from Levi for the primary goalie job.

This was a tough win with its best offensive player not playing. The Sabres squandered getting points against Montreal and Islanders at home. Getting a hard-fought win on the first game of a road trip should boost the players confidence in themselves and one another.

For those that watched the game, how did Kulich and Quinn play?

Kulich had some chances at the net. Quinn not so much. Jiri is playing how Lindy wants.

Fell asleep after the first, checked the score. 1-0 cool... I think

A win is a win, but I imagine it was a pretty boring affair in general.

I feel like even if we got better, I'm not sure how it would feel overall. I mean the bills missed for almost 2 decades and that hasn't seemed to have killed this current vibe. But the NFL is a different animal.

Well the goalposts will definitely move if they made the playoffs.

As for the game, hardly boring. It was edge-of-your-seat stuff.

The vicissitudes of life. The longer you hang in there eventually you will hit the up cycle. Within the required period of patience you will be subjected to frequent bouts of agitation. Eventually it will settle down. Hang in there. There definitely are some good signs to cling to. One of them is having a coach who knows how to work in this challenging environment. 😷

I just watch a summary of the game. So I don't want to give the impression that I was in touch with the tenor of the game. But from the five minute clip it seemed that both teams were playing with a lot of intensity recognizing that a single goal was going to be very decisive. To say the least, it was apparent that this was not going to be a shootout where there were going to be any big comebacks.

ESPN+ can't sell ads for these late games?

I think ii's a big FU from ESPN to MSG. Early games we've been getting the break slate as well. I prefer it.

I disagree:  The Sabres were on the ropes.  He lets that guy go and a quick centering pass and it's tied.  At the time my thought was that was a good penalty to take.

I thought Byram's hook in the first was a good penalty, as well.

Still no on demand replay available. ESPN+ really is terrible.

Good thing with that score, the 10 min recap was enough.

Guess who’s now sitting in the second wildcard spot?

I currently have a boycott where I'm not going to games unless they're in a playoff spot, or the tickets were given to me.

My friend actually bought some seats last week without telling me. I insisted on giving him the $$$ for it, so if I do it today, I can do so and stick to the terms of my boycott. Sort of. If they fall out by Dec 3, then maybe I've cheated my protest.

I didn't see a minute of this one, but I woke up to learn that UPL shone and the Sabres are 1 under DeLuca .500, with 2 winnable games coming up this weekend vs Anaheim and SJ.  They've now won 5 of 7 since that 3-game losing streak.

It's hard to be confident that they will show up and play hard in both of their next 2, but still -- they could return from this roadie above .500 and looking like a semi-real team for the first time in a long, long time.

Your strategy of never having any goalposts at all has worked out well

Went to bed but kept checking and waiting for my phone to buzz telling me that someone scored....LOL Woke up after the end of 2 and wondering why my phone did not buzz! LOL Heard the buzz for the PP goal and then the end of the game then went back to sleep!! Happy for the boys for pulling this off! You can see they need Tage back though!! Another scorer is definitely needed.

For those that watched the game, how did Kulich and Quinn play?

The 3rd line had limited ice time.  We had a lot of PK time.
Kulich had a few good offensive zone moments and he held his own. He played about 10 minutes.
Quinn was not noticed much except for one offensive zone shift. He played 10:38.
Zucker played 13:29, included some minutes on other lines, he scored on the PP on a deflection from in front. He may have had PK time too. He is a useful player to have on this otherwise young roster.

Good lord that was some ugly hockey last night.

UPL bailed the Sabres who once again looked inept in their own zone and in most zones frankly. The Kings didn't look much better but had better chances. They missed a few that UPL didn't stop such as the Byfield cross-crease that just misses his stick.

A win is a win but they shouldn't look at any video of that game and think that's how they need to play. Woof.

Can we stop polluting the GDT with talk of social media baloney, which leads to political slants, which leads to nothing good.

It led to metal talk,… and that’s good.

Just sayin. 😂
