Tonight made me think this more, but it’s something I’ve thought a lot about.

Would it be crazy to build a defense-first team around UPL? I’m talking trap, boring fully defensively responsible at all times.

They were even saying that the Kings thought they could catch us because our D jumps up into the play way more than most teams.

What if we didn’t do that. I think we could win more game potentially.

UPL is coming into form once again. Great effort tonight but I cannot wait for Jokiharju to be a healthy scratch again, he tried to give this game away with a terrible late penalty and that icing late was abysmal also, he's a real detriment out there imo.

I disagree:  The Sabres were on the ropes.  He lets that guy go and a quick centering pass and it's tied.  At the time my thought was that was a good penalty to take.

tbh a pretty boring hockey game but they came out on the right side of it. PK was really good and they got the one goal so all is well. UPL very good. The last 2 minutes they were so passive I thought they were going to blow it. LA in full control there but they missed their best shots and it was UPL's game.

LA plays a boring style though that's for sure.

The Sabres are transitioning from Granato to Lindy ball.  You saw it tonight.

Get 72 and 12 back and this team could make some noise.

95% of the fans might off themselves by game 25 if they weren’t 20-5 in their record.

Love that Ruff preaches not allowing losses to pile, if you lose; there isn’t any excuse not to play hard for 60 min the next game and they certainly did tonight. It was ugly, and needed UPL to do some theatrics but sometimes you need that. Especially against a team like LA that wants to play grimy as regardless of opponent. I’m proud of the guys for not hiding after all the hitting and physical play or collapsing from the PKs.

Yeah had no problem with that penalty. The icing was a brain dead play though.

Thankfully he gutted through the final 3 to help us finish the game

McLeod has been the most important offseason acquisition.  Zucker right there too.

Even a legally blind squirrel will find some nuts lol

I've seen blue ske mentioned a couple times but I'm not familiar with it. Is it similar to Twitter?

It's a clone of Twitter, developed by a former Twitter guy.  Looks pretty much the same.  Content-wise there it's more like pre-Elon Twitter.  Not near as much extremism.  Lots of people are making the jump; kind of feels like when people left MySpace for Facebook in 2008.

Maybe a boring game to most people, but this one gets me jacked up. No real mental lapses (other than 26 delay penalty and unnecessary icing), always battling hard for  pucks, in position, helped out UPL, kept things clear, and grinded out a W.

Still a few unnecessary passes, but this one was fairly simple and consistent across the board from the guys.

I liked this win a lot because of how they did it.

I just saw a five-minute capsulation of the game so can only superficially comment. Stating the obvious, UPL was outstanding. This was Vezina caliber netminding. On Zucker's goal he was in front of the net battling for position to redirect Tuck's shot. The net presence under Lindy is so much better than under the other coaches.  As someone else stated, Lindy is imprinting a tougher and more responsible brand of hockey. There is less perimeter and more interior gritty play with him behind the bench.

UPL is separating himself from Levi for the primary goalie job.

This was a tough win with its best offensive player not playing. The Sabres squandered getting points against Montreal and Islanders at home. Getting a hard-fought win on the first game of a road trip should boost the players confidence in themselves and one another.

For those that watched the game, how did Kulich and Quinn play?

Quinn was ok. He tried setting up someone in front if the net with a good pass. Other that he was not really noticeable.

Kulich played center and was good for his experience.

That’s an old school score to wake up to.

Nearly at @deluca67 .500.

And sorry to Rip Van Winkle this, but, holy sh1t balls, every bottom half team in the east is basically vying for the final wild card spot.

Here’s hoping our 3rd divisional spot is eventually in play too.

McLeod on the PK has been huge.

McLeod has been a great addition to this team. No question. He and Zucker.

Sabres PP was pretty bad with all the turnovers but they survived.  UPL came up big.

You dont watch the Sabres do you?

On a side note thought Quinn was better in the corners tonight... little more speed in his game... not incredible but better..
