LGR4GM Posted Sunday at 02:04 AM Report Posted Sunday at 02:04 AM That's about 3+ million over what the minimum cba raise would be. Good news for all teams... if Pegula would spend. Quote
Sabre The Cup Posted Sunday at 02:10 AM Report Posted Sunday at 02:10 AM The day I hear the Sabres spend to the cap is when I’ll believe they’re serious about having a good team. Can you even imagine Brandon Beane needing to spend below the cap? Quote

I have been trying to tell everyone this was going to be the case and all the push back about how the Sabres had to conserve cap space was just plain ridiculous. 5 1 Quote

Conserve $$ for the prospects that will develop into stars in two years. That was the plan, what could go wrong? Quote
mjd1001 Posted Sunday at 02:03 PM Report Posted Sunday at 02:03 PM So, more than enough room to sign Peterka, pay for Skinner's increased cap buyout coming up, probably sign Byrum....AND...is it too late to get ANYTHING of value back for Cozens if you trade him and retain a bit? Also, prepare to overpay for a 2nd line winger if Quinn doesn't snap out of whatever he is in right now. Quote
JustOneParade Posted Sunday at 02:08 PM Report Posted Sunday at 02:08 PM I’m a Sabres fan Elliott. What’s the floor? That’s the only relevant number. 1 1 Quote

We are the Buffalo Sabres, we are above such trivial concerns: our sole purpose is to win the Stanley cup. Let the dregs of the league set goals as lowly and embarrassing as merely scratching out an honest playoff berth every two years and seeing what happens 1 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted Sunday at 03:14 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:14 PM (edited) That means next season we're looking at 95-4.44 (for Skinner) as 90.5. Subtract 6 for the TP Discount. 84.5 is up from spending this year. Raise ticket prices to compensate. That'll be plenty to pay JJP and Byram if you let Zucker go. Done and done. Scottysabres Posted Sunday at 03:21 PM Report Posted Sunday at 03:21 PM Perfect, now we can give Quinn and Byrum those 7.5 mil x 8 year contracts and still have room for a Skinner type 3 yr deal @ 9 mil. Sounds like Adams has a plan. Quote

Sure you can let Zucker go and replace him with another rookie or two. That way they can be the youngest team in the league again. That seems to be the pattern. inkman Posted Sunday at 04:56 PM Report Posted Sunday at 04:56 PM Why does any Sabres fan care about this? It clearly has no impact on their roster decisions. They have ulterior motives, what those are is anyone’s guess. 1 1 Quote
bunomatic Posted Sunday at 10:32 PM Report Posted Sunday at 10:32 PM Doesn’t matter for this team. We’re always below the cap anyhow. Pegula and his cheapwad ways sees to that. Quote

The motives have been defined: quality of family goals for billionaires and the completion of contracts for a superyacht, make money off the NFL, etc. The purpose of the Sabres to win a Stanley Cup is no longer on the priority list. 1 Quote

For most teams, and certainly fans, the way to do things is 1.) spend money on a good players and staff. 2.) your team gets better. 3.) fans want to see your team, you raise ticket prices and make a ton of money when they fill the arena. 4.) you get richer. Pegula no longer wants to even take that chance. He wants to 1.) stay rich. 2.) have the team get better 'just because'. 3.) won't spend the money until the fans prove they will pay money so he won't take any kind of loss. Its like some strange version of an Episode of the Simpons from 20+ years ago....If Pegula could spend $1 to make the team better, he just might think he would be happier WITH that $1 instead. Plus, I think the Bills being good right now is bad for the Sabres. If he owned ONLY the Sabres, he might be more interested in the ONE professional sports team he would won not being a total embarrassment. But as long as the Bills are good, he can ignore the Sabres and just 'look the other way' at his 'nicer' toy. Edited Monday at 01:32 AM by mjd1001 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted Monday at 01:51 AM Report Posted Monday at 01:51 AM Don't worry, the internal cap is 82 mill. Quote
