Porous Five Hole Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Zero points and a -5 in the last four games. I don’t think the Sabres are regretting the buyout. 2 1 Quote

They may have seen the first part of that cliff: -0 goals in his last 13 games for the Sabres last year (really bad for a guy whos only job is to score goals.) -no goals in 32 of his last 36 games with the Sabres. I would have been good with them giving him another year at the time of the buyout....Looks like the team was correct and I was wrong on that one. Edited November 16 by mjd1001 1 2 Quote

PerreaultForever Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Who is this Jeff Skinner you are talking about? Quote
DarthEbriate Posted Saturday at 10:46 PM Report Posted Saturday at 10:46 PM (edited) 1 hour ago, Mustache of God said: Did we ever stop to wonder if Ralph Kruger was right? Games as head coach it took for each to learn that Skinner is not as good as other options as a top line forward, and if not there, is incapable as a bottom 6 forward: Brind'Amour: 0 games Housley: 70-ish games (Eichel dragged Skinner along, but if you recall, Sheary and then Olofsson finished the season with Eichel-Reinhart) Krueger: Season 1: 0 games. Skinner was not on Eichel's wing. Krueger: Season 2: 0 games. Hall was on Eichel's wing, then COVID took the team apart and in the return on 2/16/21 Skinner was promoted to Eichel's wing in a 3-0 shutout to NYI. It's a trick question: NEGATIVE 12 games -- then he put Skinner on the top line. Granato: Season 1: 0 games. Hall remains on the top line until his trade, and then a few weeks later about 4/11/21, Granato puts Skinner on Reinhart's wing on the top line. About NEGATIVE 13 games for Skinner to rise to the top line. Granato Season 2: NEVER LEARNED! Skinner - TNT - Tuch plays like a 1st line. Granato Season 3: 47 games. Skinner was on the top line, dealt with some injuries, but didn't get demoted until about the LA Kings game on 1/24/24. Ruff: 0 games Knoblauch: 17 games. (Though it's his GM's choice and free agency recency bias) ---------- TL/DR: RB'A, Krueger, Ruff knew when they started. Maybe we need to give Krueger a little bit more credit.* EDM needs to trade Skinner before they miss the playoffs. *No. No, we don't. 21 minutes ago, PerreaultForever said: Who is this Jeff Skinner you are talking about? mjd1001 Posted Saturday at 11:29 PM Report Posted Saturday at 11:29 PM 2 hours ago, Mustache of God said: Did we ever stop to wonder if Ralph Kruger was right? good point, but with Skinner and a little hindsight, maybe its not just him: -Brindamour took over in Carolina coaching in 2018, it was the offseason he took over that Carolina decided to trade him to Buffalo. It looks like Brindamour wanted nothing to do with Skinner. -After ONE good season with Housley, Krueger took over and he wanted nothing to do with Skinnner as we all know. -Skinner did pretty good under Granato, then Ruff took over and the Sabres (possibly with input from Ruff) wanted nothing to do with Skinner, to the extent of an expensive buyout. -He goes to Edmonton. It took to the 4th game of the season for his ice time to be cut below 15 minutes per game and have him mostly off the first 2 lines. The last 2 games he's averaged right around 10 minutes (or under) of ice time. It appears over most of his career, many of his coaches have a VERY short leash with him and are quick to cut his ice time down, or downright want him no-where near their team. Krueger didn't want him at all on his team, nor Brindamour, Nor Ruff, and after 1 month in Edmonton he's getting the same treatment there. Quote
