SwampD Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Saw signs of life from Quinn last game. Need a lot more. Would love to find some more wins without Tage. Screw Philly. LFG!!! 1 Quote
#freejame Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Gotta win this one, especially with two in hand on the teams directly in front of us. History says disappointment is in store. Prove me wrong. Quote
Pimlach Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 (edited) No Tage and no UPL Greenway might miss too. Already leaning on depth with Kulich called up. Big effort required in front of Levi. This is a game we need. Edited November 16 by Pimlach Quote
Big Guava Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Let's see how far they have come. This was a really bad matchup usually under Granato. Some of their worst games came against the Flyers. Quote

But overall, Granato was 8-3-1 vs. the Flyers, including his first win as Sabres head coach. 1 2 Quote

They need to match the intensity and get better goal tending to win. Quote

zow2 Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 We are without the #1 goalie and #1 center, and i think the Flyers are too (Ersson out, Couturier day to day) Quote
Stoner Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 (edited) For those who adhere to the Bowmanian scheme of 10 game segments: The Sabres pulled nine points in the first segment. Not nearly enough. Twelve would do. They are 4-3 in the second segment. Three more wins would give them the most points in a segment since 22-23 and put them a relief pitcher's ***** hair below a playoff pace (94 ish points when you probably need 96 ish to be safe). Three losses and it's a disaster (69ish point pace). This team has struggled the last calendar year plus a month to get out of its comfort zone. Segment totals: 10, 10, 7, 11, 10, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8*. This is a delicate point in the journey back to Stanleyland. Edited November 16 by Stoner 5 2 Quote

I hesitate to say the Sabres are a better team than almost anyone. Certainly a higher-skilled roster, particularly on defense. The Flyers have 4 OT/SO wins. They're going to try to make this game into an endless slog and with TNT out, the most dynamic forward on the ice is going to be Michkov. (Followed by JJP/Konecy and then... Benson? Or, given his wheels, maybe McLeod.) You have the solution. The Sabres need to outskate and outwork the Flyers on every loose puck and board battle. Both teams have had a rest day, but the Sabres don't play again until next Wednesday; there is no excuse for slackery. 1 Quote
Demoted Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Grit out these wins while Tage and UPL are healing. Let's go Sabres! Quote

Stoner Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 16 minutes ago, LGR4GM said: I block dumb ***** as a policy. It's dumb to say any team should win a game. Let alone the Buffalo Sabres. A 5-0 win wouldn't surprise you. Nor would a 5-0 loss. There's the logic. 1 Quote

Broken Ankles Posted November 16 Report Posted November 16 Before the win against St. Louis they hadn’t won a game after a singular loss. Lindy stressed the importance of not stacking losses. Let’s see if they can keep the trend of multiple wins. They must take the opportunities afforded them in this part of the schedule. It’s not unreasonable to think a win tonight and a sweep of the west coast is plausible. A five game win streak would be welcomed as they get ready to play the likes of Minnesota, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Colorado, NYR and Toronto in late November/early December. If they fail to stack wins now, and December does not yield better results, (and why would it against better competition) then it might be Groundhog Day by January 1st. Long winded way to say…Must Win. Quote

Those traits weren't abundant enough in the Montreal and Islander games. Lost opportunities that were there for the taking. Quote

That's kinda crazy because the games I remember were the ones where the Sabres got shellacked and either got shut out or scored one goal including one time where they played either back to back or 2 games within a week and got crushed both times.
