I'd guess that if Bryson, Gilbert or Clifton have a rough night it'll give Ruff the runway to put him back in. At this point, they're on a three-game winning with this exact group of defenders. I think he knows that the top 4 looks better (last game no withstanding) as currently constructed and perhaps has data from last year that shows that Joki was a drag on Power. The other thing to consider is that they could be actively shopping him as we speak, and don't want to risk injury. They'd be smart to sell him off before the deadline to a team needing a righty that might pay a little more to have him for the majority of the season. We have decent depth and still have Ryan Johnson down in the AHL, who looked like an NHL'er most nights last season. Plus Novikov might be close to ready for third pairing duty. The only problem is...it leaves Connor Clifton as your only true right shot. Adams would likely need to at least get someone else in that can play on the right. Personally, I'm good with it. Jokiharju just doesn't do anything well and is soft. I honestly prefer Bryson's game overall, and he's a much better defender and more adept at skating the puck out of trouble. I find Joki's hockey IQ to be quite low, especially in the offensive zone where his go-to move is to just shoot with no traffic in front. My opinion is that Ruff watched it for the first few based on reputation more than anything, but quickly realized he was the weak link and prefers a more rugged bottom pair. It makes sense. Quote

I don't see those lines sticking together for the entire game unless the Sabres carry and maintain a 1-3 goal lead for the whole game. I'm not sure which would be BETTER lines, but those just don't look right. Quote

This is a new season, a new beginning, we have the opportunity to change the tide. I'm all in!!!!!!! Let us, as fans......have faith. Let us be those that help turn the tide! Quote
PerreaultForever Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Beatable. Can't afford to toss these games away. Key to the game is net front on both ends imo. 1 Quote

Ruff said in an interview either yesterday or this morning that the team has to stop having losses turn into losing streaks. They haven't done that yet. First loss turned into a 3 game losing streak. Next loss after that turned into 2 in a row. Next loss after that was another 3 game losing streak. When you have a loss, find a way to not make it turn into a streak. Hopefully that starts tonight. 2 Quote

Well that's fine, and it's not wrong, but if Ruff keeps trying the same things that aren't working it's empty words. Second line just doesn't work. Quote
#freejame Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Tempted not to watch. Sabres play better when I don’t and I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen them beat the Blues Quote
Slack_in_MA Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Need the veterans to show the way tonight. Zucker, Tuch, Dahlin, Clifton. Get back on a win streak. 4 Quote
Pimlach Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Good evening Teammates, Big game, last one of the home stand. Blues on a 3 game losing streak. Sabres need to come together tonight. As mentioned, they need players to step up with Tage being out. Keep Levi’s crease clear. MUSCLE WEIGHT Edited 3 hours ago by Pimlach 1 Quote

Pimlach Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Ugh. We have three straight high danger chances and Power failed to defend. Easy goal for St Louis. Quote
