There seems to be signs of life from Cozen and to a lesser degree, Quinn. This team desperately needs them to be what we have seen glimpses of what they can be.

It sounds self serving but there's some mounting evidence that Quinn is starting to actually play well. Underlying metrics are improving and I'm hopeful the points start to follow.

Incrementally he is improving. That's better than incrementally sliding back. Cozens is more noticeably getting better. Benson is driving the line. The team's prospects are so much better if this line can play at a second line level.

Anything that is an improvement from the production they have been giving you will be welcome obviously.  For me, a good team should expect 50 goals at least from your 2nd line....60 is what you really aim for.  That group is far from that still unless they really light things up.

McLeod has been a very good pickup. He looks like a guy who can raise his game to fill in at 1C for short stints when they need it.

I said earlier that McLeod is our Mitts now.  Hangs out on the 3rd line, can elevate to the 1st line if needed.

Are you saying that we don't need Mitts now? Does that mean we can put an end to that narrative?

McLeod has good speed but Mitts is much better all around.

IDK, McLeod seems to do less dumb things.

I just finished watching the replay on ESPN+.  For some strange reason ESPN cut off the replay at 2:30 hours with 6+ minutes left in the 3rd.  Stupid!

Anyway, our defensive gaffs are still plentiful and dangerous.  Fortunately, the forwards did a pretty good job of counterpunching and ultimately winning the game in OT.  McLeod had a great game. I thought Benson was very good as well and Levi made some great saves. Dahlin seems better, but still not quite himself.  Power is friggin awful.  How many times can one guy read the play wrong and get out of position?

So what’s the deal with the disallowed goal.  Where was the friggin inference if the defender is pushing Benson into the crease.  A truly awful call.

McLeod > Mittsy

Not even close.  One excellent game does not a career make.  There is much to like about McLeod.  He is certainly better than the player I saw in Edm, but he is in no way a better player than Mittelstadt.  Mitts is a better goal scorer and a better playmaker.  He is also much more physical.  He is also better along the boards and a more versatile player.

Mitts had 59 pts two years ago and 57 last year.  This season he has 16 pts in 17 games.
McLeod had 23 pts two years ago and 30 last year.  He is having a great year so far with 11 pts in 17 goals.

Just think how much better we’d be with both Mitts and McLeod.

With just a touch more grit.

Oh, different player for sure.  But fills a similar role.  Given a choice I'm not sure who I pick.  Would I want Mitts back and not have Byram?  Or is the team better overall with Byram and McLeod?

Small-ish sample size.

Given that you are one of the self-appointed representatives of that coalition, I bid you make it so.

I disagree with the justification, but basically they said because Benson went into the crease voluntarily, but then was constrained there by the defender, the fact that he went in on his own is why it was called.  Watching the replay it looks like he was in the top of the crease but then actually got his feet out of the crease before the puck went in.  Ummm.... I dunno.  I thought it was a good goal.

I'm trying not to look back.  That's the best I can do.

I'd accept Byram PLUS McLeod is better than Mitts so if Savoie never amounts to much it's a win.

No.  This team is not better with McLeod and Byram.  Cheaper in the short-term, but both are RFAs at year's end.  Also younger as well.  However, Byram is a disaster defensively and that erases much if not all his skill on offense.    Byram is -15 in HDCF/HDCA.  Power is nearly as bad at -11.  Dahlin by comparison is +16 and he has had his own struggles this season.
