Tage Thompson Injury day to day, 11/11/2024

Sounds like he will be a few games but it wasn't horrendous. This puts Buffalo in a precarious situation as basically the offense was Tage Thompson and friends.

Will add more once the rumors out their are confirmed.

By a few games, whatever it is I hope they don't go on a 2-3 game losing streak and then bring him back a bit early.

Some of us believe Tage is a 50 goal guy when healthy, but he's more of a 25-30 goal guy when he is 'good enough' to play but not at 90-100%.  Make sure he's at 90-100% before you bring him back.

Bryson into the top four is not ideal.  Actually none of this is ideal. McLeod to 1C?  Ooooook

And UPL needed a maintenance day?

Adams is now in his fifth season and this is his fully formed team? Gross.
But hey, at least these guys want to be here and GM’ing is hard, amiright?

He's not on the ice for practice but we should get an update after practice. Samuelsson and UPL also are not practicing.

UPL wasn't feeling well heading into last game which is why Ruff pulled him he said postgame, so it's likely just to give him some rest to recover quicker.

Thompson is out day to day.

Samuelsson will be out weeks.

UPL, also day to day

What's new with Samuelsson.  Every year the same thing...out weeks at least once a year.  At some point the best ability becomes availability and they locked up a guy who is fragile to a long term deal.

mcleod to line 1!

This looks like the staff looked at the OG "Kid Line" and said "Whatever, just go be useless together and stay out of our way."

I have to imagine Lindy is constantly thinking "WTF did I get myself into".

I like McLeod as a 3C.  I get why he could get 2C minutes on this team.   The center spline is a mess and nowhere near playoff caliber without Thompson.  They are a marginal group even with him IMO.  We will need to see few lightbulbs going off - Cozens and Krebs need to grow up right now if this team is going to make the playoffs.

Bryson in the top 4 is not a good thing.  Bryson is a decent 6/7 that has some ability.   His play dropped against lowly Montreal when teamed with Power - two non physical players.   Bryson can compliment Clifton on the 3rd pair as Bryson has the better wheels and can move the puck quickly, and Clifton can clear the net front and is willing to do it.

I hope Joker gets a chance on the 2nd pair as Lindy works through this situation.

Benson-McLeod-Tuch
Peterka-Cozens-Quinn
Greenway-Krebs-Zucker
Malenstyn-Lafferty-NAK

Given the pieces available, this is fine.  McLeod is our Mittelstadt now and I think he'll do alright for a short stretch.  I'm hopeful that Krebs can elevate his game enough to be worthy of 3rd line duty.  He's been playing well overall, except for the egregious pass across the ice that the Habs turned into a goal the last game.  The only thing that's a little surprising to me is Benson on McLeod's line instead of JJP.  If one of those two top lines doesn't clearly warrant being the top line, I'm sure Lindy will shuffle the deck a bit (most likely switch up the top three LWs somehow).

And Bryson will be fine in the second pairing.  He's matured steadily every year and he's playing good responsible defense.

Does that have the look of a playoff team to you? Isn’t that what this season was supposed to be about?

I can’t say we have bad injury luck anymore.
I am as glass half full as anybody, but this isn’t good enough.  This is Adams no excuses year.

Don't overreact.  It's a temporary situation until Tage returns to the forward ranks.  For the defense I would say based on play so far this year I'd rather see Bryson than Muel.

No real info on Tage is concerning.  I hope the Sabres don’t rush Tage back and then we have to say, ”Tage doesn’t look like himself” for a month.

But today’s Practice roster is not a playoff roster. Simple as that. I’m reacting, not overreacting.

Tage, so far this year:

-11 goals (one goal off the league lead...technicallly tied for 4th in the league)

-3rd in the league in even strength goals per 60 (among anyone with more than 5 games played)

-Leads the Sabres in +/-, goals, points. Lindy hasn't used him Short handed much, but in the limited time he hasn't been on ice for a goal against SH (when you include last year he has the BEST/Lowest goals allowed per 60 PK of any forward with over 50 minutes ice time short handed)

This is a big time loss for the team. To me, He is clearly the best player on this team this year, and has been playing like a top 25 player in the entire league so far through 15 games.

It’s incredible what our line up looks like after all these years of drafting where we have. This team should be loaded. Mindboggling.

Trades and FA acquisitions get all the attention, but in a cap world it's the draft that makes or breaks a team.

Getting so-so #1's in Power and Dahlin, along with not a lot beyond that ever since the drought started has been our biggest downfall by far. Losing Eichel and Reinhart of course sucks too, but Peterka has been our only major win over all these years.

They were loaded.   They never had the FO vision on what to do with all the talent.   Eichel and Reinhart are now NHL Super Stars on other teams.

Murray quickly built a house of cards and had a toxic group.

Under Boterill they had poor coaching and they literally had the inmates running the asylum.  The culture got worse.

Under Adams they refused to bring in goaltending help and fell in love with prospects instead of really trying to win now.  They settle for "players that want to be here" and lack action.

It goes back to TP and his choices for GM.  None of his hires ever constructed an NHL roster or had any success building a winning organization.
