I believe Buffalo gets first dibs on Reimer. With the injuries it’s a no-brainer to pick him up.

Pretty sure he's been on Anaheim's roster for more than 30 days; if so, no they don't have dibs on him.

Levi needs to play many games. Sandstrom is hurt and out for who knows how long. The other goalies on NHL contracts are kids. Get Reimer as your back-to-back guy and ride Luukkonen in the hope you get a clone of last year's performance until Levi forces your hand.

One way to look at it is that Reimer is SO BAD this season that he's been waived by not 1, but 2 lower-tier teams.  Then again, Levi has looked pretty bad when in net for the Sabres, so how much worse could Reimer be?  And to rebuild Levi's confidence and get him some rhythm, he needs to play.  If he plays, UPL loses his rhythm.  So the answer is probably to reclaim Reimer and have him back up UPL, while Levi plays a lot in Rochester.  They can bring Levi up for periodic starts like they did later in last season, to keep Reimer out of the nets  Reimer could be a game-day backup/injury replacement, but not get any (or get VERY few) starts.

Have you seen Dostal’s numbers? He’s been getting that way too early Vezina talk.

I looked up his stats. He started two games on a terrible team. The two teams were the devils and vegas.

Meanwhile, Dostal has been amazing with a .922 and still is only 4-5-2 (4-7).

If Reimer can be reclaimed, and can give the Sabres 20-25 stable, veteran, career-Reimer-level games of .895-.905 sv%, then can go .500 and then work hard in front of UPL to get him at .910 or higher, then you hope TNT is healthy, the offense is good, and let the chips fall where they may.

Yes, but it is TP and Adams we are talking about here…Whatever makes sense to do, they’ll do the opposite

I seriously hope Terry Pegula isn’t telling Kevyn Adams what waiver claims to make

According to Friedman, Buffalo claims Reiner.  Assume he stays with Buffalo at this point with UPL out (or no)?  Or do we have to make room in the roster for him and send somebody down….not sure how this works.

Nevermind….Muel put on IR to make room for Reimer

I think he can be sent directly to Rochester unless Buffalo doesn’t want that. It happened with the Jets and Kakkonen yesterday in an identical waiver claim situation.

AHL is only possible if we were the sole team to make a claim; otherwise I'd guess Levi goes down or we carry 3 goalies with Muel on IR presumedly.
