I always harp on this but i feel the main reason they never make the playoffs clearly are the home regulation losses.  They have settled down some this season and a little above .500?   But not getting these tough games to OT where you are tied in the third period or down by 1....  Do they ever do that?

The 5-7 extra loser points that they fail to earn are going to cost them dearly again.

I agree that youth is the reason, but that is who the Sabres are. Eventually, I mean, someday, the Sabres won't be the youngest team in the league? I mean,… right? Someday?

The laws of nature says it should be that way.

As long as Tage Thompson is ok, the Sabres are fine.

You put way too much emphasis on one player while ignoring the fact a team isn’t good if losing one player is make or break.

In the battle of in-game replacement goalies:

Montembeault = 4-4

Levi = 2-4

Levi shouldn’t be on this team and today was a perfect display of why. He needs to be playing games consistently to build consistency.

There was some good news to come out of the game. Found out we’re having a baby girl during the second intermission. My dad had to convince me but I even bought her a Sabres dress.

Congrats! I hope she doesn't grow up to be a bitter and broken Sabres fan. 😇 Maybe they'll make the playoffs by the time she is old enough to care. Maybe.

Your optimism is pissing everyone off…

I actually appreciate the optimism, it's a refreshing change of pace here.

However, it's only a matter of time before the Sabres break him, just as they've broken all of us.

It is not optimism when you say the Sabres will win at least 2 playoff rounds. It’s trolling.

True. 6 out of 8 points is the pace for a playoff team.

Six out of eight during a random stretch of the season is not indicative of a playoff team. Consistent performance is indicative of a playoff team. A single four game stretch out of 82 games is not consistency.

At this point I am compelled to ask if you are new to hockey. If so, I recommend paying attention to other posters instead of being the new guy that $h!t talks them.

Optimism doesn't piss me off, I welcome it. It would be nice if we had more optimism but that comes with sustained results. Anybody who posts on this board is dying to see this team be good and stay good. That can't even be questioned. What pisses me off, personally, is crusading 'Johnny come lately' types who think that they know what a 'true fan' is and that anyone who differs from their view is a 'Negative Nelly' who is only happy when the team is losing. That's some trolling horsesh*t right there. After 13+ years of watching this organization wander in the wilderness and set an NHL record for consecutive years missing the playoffs, the "I'll believe it when I see it" fans are just as 'true' as those spewing unfounded optimism because of a few wins recently. Coming onto a board and questioning or mocking longstanding members of an online community without any context or knowledge of its posters is lame and childish trolling. Plain and simple.

We just blew out the Rangers at MSG. I will stick with my "trolling" even if we did drop one today.

Right, because bad teams never beat good teams in the NHL.

I'll bet you can't believe that the Sabres didn't get a free pass to the playoffs when they swept the Knights last season.
