Should have been roughing before the goal.  The goal should not count.  The whistle was way late so they had to count it.

Refs afraid to make the proper call - p*ssies. The guy tackled Gilbert way before the goal went in. Should have been a penalty a long time before the goal. Ridiculous really

Tackled, interfered with Gilbert -- which left no one available to take his place against the rush. Should've been whistled sooner because the tackle led directly to the rush and the goal. Bummer.

Maybe the refs will make it up later in the game.

Yeah prob Bryson has been really good - Gilbert not so much with a couple penalties and general play

Probably so, but they called a tic tac penalty on him earlier. They have let  more egregious things go.  
 

And that double roughing could have been interference on Calgary and a whistle right away.

Mallestein #29 got lazy on the goal against - didn’t cover the guy in front just floated. As a 4th liner that can’t happen

1 goal lead on home ice heading into the 3rd period. Good test to see if the Sabres have that killer instinct in them.

Not wrong but that sort of thing happens a lot in games. Malentstyn should have picked up that guy down by the goal though and if he does, it's a non issue.

Gilbert's a 7/8 guy at best. He's probably served his purpose and should probably go back upstairs to get some better skill back in there. Hopefully lessons were learned from the press box.

Agree, but the entire play should have been whistled down and maybe some players were expecting it, interference on Calgary was ignored. 
 

Hard to believe we lost that period.  Clearly Calgary is using a physical game to get back in it and the way the officials are calling this one is to their advantage. 
 

Let see how the Sabres answer.  They need to overcome that bad shift.

Concerned about our heavy legs post pp at the end. We were losing a lot of races and ice was tilting against us. Need to refocus and come out fast to start the 3rd, get the first goal.

He just looks a bit slow today... never fast but maybe trying to do too much against former team... to hyped it happens.
