I watched a Sabres produced youtube video last night that I presume was a post practice interview with Owen Power.  “We’ve done a lot of good things” was a very similar quote to Power’s response.

It's giving Gen Z, and not in a good way.

They don’t seem to be on the same page, and they don’t seem to sense the urgency either.  This is what happens when there just aren’t enough grizzled vets from winning organizations in the room.  Our vets are mostly products of this culture.

the kids don't want it. ... they don't hate to lose.

Thus, Power's and Thompson's quotes of "we've done some good things" is [are] giving Gen Z ... but not in a good way.

Hmmm….. which Gen Z stereotype are we throwing around here?

Not much for the generational stereotypes usually foisted upon the young uns.  I don’t think other teams are burdened by them.

Fair. I've decried them here as well.

But, lord this group tests my patience and better angels. The juxtaposition of Lindy's "you know what? eff the 'good things' we've done" with Tage's and Power's "ya know - we've done some good things" is striking.

When it comes to Gen Z, there are, imo, cultural tenets holding that it's a bad idea (or even verboten) to focus on anything negative and that, if you want improved performance or better results, you must instead encourage things that are being done well.

In fairness to the Gen Z'ers, this is as much (more) their parents' fault as it is theirs. My wife works at a private high school. She's often reluctant to drop a failing grade on a kid or issue a detention slip because she knows there's a good chance those negative consequences are going to mean hours of dealing with the kid's parents (and, in turn, with her school leadership who may or may not have her back because, y'know ...  they need enrollment).

I'm starting to wonder if Lindy's lost it or he too is just following the Pegula party line to earn his retirement cheques. I really don't get him dumping on Clifton saying Clifton has to be better. Yes, he does, they all do, but that's your number 6 D man and he's hardly central to the equation why is he the whipping boy? What is that going to achieve? Are you trying to not hurt the feelings of the so called "stars"? Why is he not saying Quinn is garbage or Cozens needs to be better? Dahlin isn't living up to his contract. Samuelsson is useless. Tons of passengers, but it's Clifton who has to be better. WTAF?

Ive stated often during the tank era (and as far as I am concerned, the tank era isn’t over until this team puts it to bed), that you can’t have a majority kids team.  You need a majority vets team to overwhelm the kids with the “right way” to do things.  These kids have not seen what a successful NHL team needs to do.  Every GM during this era has picked around the edges for meaningful vets.  It doesn’t work because there isn’t a critical mass driving the kids.  And a tough guy coach isn’t going to change that.

And now we have reached a point where our kids are now the vets and are supposed to somehow flip a switch and begin doing things that noone has shown them to do.

It’s ***** madness.

He did that all the time in first tenure around here.

Guys like Stafford or Roy were never critized, no matter how horrible they would be. He’d dump on someone else instead.

Hell, he’d scratch Jason Woolley every time Zhitnik and Smehlik played like crap.

I think that is maybe true. I've kind of forgotten the details but it sounds true. I just can't imagine Quinn, playing the way he is, not being benched and out of the line up on any other team. I don't see how you can talk about accountability and let him keep playing.

The 2nd line centre has 4 points in 13 games. The 2nd line RW has 2 points in 12 games.  Here lies the biggest issue with this team having any type of consistency.

The 1st line has been a good 1st line. The 3rd line has been tremendous and the 4th line has been solid.

The 2nd line has been a complete black hole that this team can’t overcome. I have no idea what is wrong with Cozens and Quinn but if they don’t fix it soon they need to address it outside the organization. No more excuses and growing pains.
