Second Line Center Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 If the Capitals are for real (they are) and finishing in the top 3 in the Atlantic is probably not going to happen then this season is going to go south real quick if we don’t get it together by Thanksgiving. And that’s a little over 3 weeks away. Wins against teams like this are a must. Quote

Our goaltending is not crappy and we have Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin. Like I said, a win tonight and we could be in a wild card spot. 1 Quote

Like I said, a win tonight and we could be in a wild card spot. 53 goalies have played 4 or more games this year. Of the 53... -UPL is 37th in save percentage, Levi is 46th out of the 53. -In terms of GAA, UPL is 41st, Levi is 51st out of 53. -High danger chances: league average save percentage currently is .778. UPL is at .765 Levi is at .667 So at the current point of the season, they kinda are playing "crappy" In 6 of the 11 games (54.5%) the Sabres have scored 4 or more goals. Last year they did it in just 30.4% of games. So the offense has been more consistent/reliable, but their goaltending is letting them down. Its not just the stats, on a lot of goals allowed when we look at the replays, its harder than last year to figure out the one positional player that really screwed up. More often I am looking at replays of goals allowed, and saying "I need my goalie to make that save". On my personal list of 'who needs to be better', Its Quinn, Cozens, Samuelsson and the goalies. They don't need to be on fire, but if those players were just playing closer to expectations, this team would have more wins. Edited November 2 by mjd1001 2 Quote
nfreeman Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 Gilbert and Kulich in for... Samuelsson and Quinn? Or maybe a much louder statement: Bryson, Gilbert, Kulich and Benson in for Byram, Samuelsson, Quinn and Cozens? Either way -- they played one of their worst games of the season last night, then had to travel and play a road game tonight against a motivated opponent. If they lose tonight they are 4 and 8 and the season is already slipping away -- because teams that end up 4 games below DeLuca .500 don't make the playoffs or draw good crowds for home games. Nor do they deserve them. 1 Quote

Not great goaltending but they know how to put the puck in the net when they get a chance. Very different team to what we have that's for sure. Quote

He is 3rd among forward in ice time, and I think he even led all forward in ice time a few times in the past couple weeks. Quote

I think you're right, and I think Lindy likes Cozens, and I would be pretty surprised if he were scratched. I was just offering up an example of a bold statement. Quote
FrenchConnection44 Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 This is the same team we’ve seen for the last few years (though they were at least entertaining 2 years ago with all the scoring). They go out and lose 2-3-4 in a row. Then they win an unexpected game and win a couple in a row. They are a .500 club. The same thing they have been. Which sucks. If they are .500 this year they should just blow it up. Trade their talent. Pick up first rounders. Get rid of Adams. Wish Pegula would sell but that probably won’t happen. There is no reason to follow this team until something radically different happens. Quote

HumanSlinky39 Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 This is the kind of game the Sabres usually dominate...right after a disappointing loss. 5-2 Sabres. Quote

Pimlach Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 Their PA system is flawed. The anthem was disturbing. The amplifier was clipping on the high frequencies. Check the mic, the cables, and the speakers too. Quote

mjd1001 Posted November 2 Report Posted November 2 I'm ready for Dahlin to start having games like a 1st overall pick, generational level potential d-man. My impression was Granato told Dahline to "go", or "do your thing", where Lindy more wants him to play the system and freelance a bit less. Also I think that was a kinda-weak call as a penalty on Detroit. Looked a bit more like good stick checking and less of a penalty. Quote
