How is it that last year all we wanted were for them to crash the net and to help get goals; now they do actually crash the net and it still doesn't go in.

Jack Quinn's utter implosion over the offseason needs a 30 for 30; I can't say I have ever seen a player go from competent or better winger with flare and talent along with defensive mindedness to be borderline braindead and quite literally handling the puck like a grenade. Do we need to demand Granato call up Quinn and pump his tires or something?

We seem to perpetually have issues no matter what moves we make; players who are consistently solid will inexplicably fall apart as soon as we fix a different issue. Worst of all I know for a fact if we trade Quinn he'll be a perennial 30 goal scorer because Buffalo. That's all there is to explain some of the issues. Goaltending was mostly fine last year, this year its suspect. 2 years ago we scored at will and now we have to pray to get them some nights. Players seem to perpetually falter here whether it be endlessly loops of learning and unlearning or flat out stagnation and/or collapse. We rarely catch a break with a player or a bounce; the refs actively some nights seem hellbent on screwing us I'm just at a loss for words. How can a team with as many changes as we have had since 2013 be still more or less the same exact team? And you can't blame Pegula for the players' issues.

it really is unbelievable how we keep coming back to the same place .....its obscene

Sarcasm, right? Tuch who scored the only goal today and is on a 27 goal pace, and Thompson who just had a pretty long point streak and is still on a 47 goal pace?

Right, as I was saying they are producing enough to get them to the playoffs, but might not be the type of guys that produce enough to ever take this team to a Cup win. They might just be 2nd liners for a Stanley Cup caliber team.

You are a loyal fan. I feel for you.  I’m in the same boat.  I want that Cup.

I think you can. He is the constant.

Everything flows from him down. Who wants to take the job at gm and coach?  What standard is set from above?  most importantly how many of the guys who are here (or NOT here) are just as much a decision that had to be run by Pegula, or vetoed by him, that if he had taken a step back things would be different.

Too many GM's, Too many coaches, too many players that have done well in other places but not as well here, it is something beyond the players....and every other part has been changed out except the top.

On a game to game basis, of course its the players and the coaches...but when we start talking months, seasons, decades....the standard is set from the top. The rules are made from the top and the mess below is a result of what comes down from the top.

I'd say that goes for anyone posting on a Sabres board after the last 13+ seasons.

Or, the team is like a car that once you fix one part, something else fails.

I think a top like of Tuch with his all around play and on pace for 28, and Tage scoring at more than a 40 goal pace is good enough.  Even McDavid and Matthews don't score EVERY game. I don't blame the top line...they are doing their part as a top line. Its the goaltending that has a save percentage for the season starting with a .8 instead of a .9, and your 'second best' forward (Cozens) leading your team in shots but shooting about 2.5%.....THOSE are the things that stanley cup teams don't have.

Agree. This organization is a failure because of Terry Pegula. There is no other explanation except the supernatural.

Just took a look at the updated standings....tied for last in the entire conference. Tied for 28th - 30th in the league.  Woo Hoo!!

Relax. They are also just 3 points out of the wild card.  Lot of hockey to play.

And, there is no "generational talent" at the top of this coming draft. Naturally.

Yes, A tear down should start with Kevin Adams being fired.

Serious question here: If Adams gets fired, how does that make things better?

I tend to agree with others that made the point Pegula will still want to oversee, suggest, veto, or have last word in all player moves.  I see a new GM, who will be chose by him, as just someone bringing him different choices for him to choose or not choose from. Pegs seems to have his fingerprints all over this team from the time he took over.  Free agent signings, at least some input into contracts, or who gets contracts and who doesn't.  He picks all the GM's and presidents and likely the coaches.

I really think Adams is not much more than a puppet for pegula.  If a new GM comes in, it will be someone who Pegs picks to have the same role. How does that change anything?

It isn't about what may happen in the future. Many or most of us are commenting on how we feel right now.

When seeing the last 3 games, in addition to the season as a whole, telling fans who invest in this team to Relax isn't all that appropriate. We are fans, we comment on what we just saw, not what may happen sometime in the future.

Adams swung and whiffed on the roster.  The core grew up and matured but never got any better than a few years ago. Now they are stuck doing another rebuild from a failed rebuild.

That is my point exactly.....firing Adams may make some people feel better. After watching the start of this season...its very frustrating.

But who is Pegula going to PICK to come here, that will be WILLING to come here, that is going to make a difference?

If Adams stays as GM under the current situation, nothing changes.  If a new GM comes in that Pegula picks nothing changes.  The only thing that changes things if its A new gm, OR ADAMS staying, and Pegula stops being Pegula.

Adams leaving does nothing by itself. Zero.

The Sabres have a Power Play problem. Not a team problem. They would be 7-4-1 instead of 4-7-1 if they had a decent PP.  It is something that can be fixed. They just lost back to back games by 1 goal. The sky is not falling.

Absolutely. The difference is striking.

I've been pretty steadfast that I feel this is a playoff team this year; I no longer feel that way. This is the same old Sabres. Adams has not done good enough job, full stop. This is likely to be a very tight race for the playoffs in this conference, and that makes the games you lose in October/November hurt that much more. You cannot lose a bunch of games to the CBJ, Pens, Islanders, and Wings. 3/4 of those (if not all 4) won't be in the playoffs. The clock should be ticking on Adams's tenure. If they're out of the playoffs, he has to go.
