They could also lose every game.  It’s hockey.  Teams with better records and talent lose every single night of the season.

Correct, but I'm not rooting for them to lose. Also correct, it is hockey. Correct again, teams with better records and talent lose every single night of the season.  To continue the theme of your reply, it is also Friday and it is also November. Go Sabres!

Islanders have some muscle. Would like to see Gilbert in this one, but noone really deserves to sit down.

Samuelsson should have been sat after the first few games. But Lindy never followed through on his holding them accountable claim.

The Isles 4th line has been mentioned for years as the type that the Sabres needed. We’ll see if they’ve met that goal.

The only way the Sabres lose this game is if they are outworked by a TON, or if they hit a hot goalie. Just show up and put a good nights work in and they should win. The Islanders are not a BAD team, they are pretty balanced, but they don't do anything great. They have good players but not great players.

If Barzal is not playing, that just reinforces the above even more.  Maybe the one way they Islanders can beat you is they do have good speed up front, but Barzal is a big part of that.

As long as I don't have to hear the "Woo" Birds throughout the game I think I will count this as a victory, at least personally.

The only thing more annoying that the people who love to do that throughout the game are the MSG producers who insist on having those microphone volumes mixed into the sound at a level that dominates the overall mix.

Anyway... hope they win.  This is one of those games where they could play down to the Isles level.  I hope not. I'd like to see an absolute stomping.

It's brutal!  Pittsburgh seems to own this behavior and seeing/hearing it creep to Keybank is irritating.  Actually had one near me Monday, but just once before puck drop.

It's well past time for the Sabres to get what they need from:

Dahlin

Samuelsson

Cozens

Quinn

Those are supposed to be 4 of their core guys, and each has been a big fat zero this season.

I'm interested to see the reshuffled lines, but let's not kid ourselves:  Lindy is doing this because the poor play of Cozens and Quinn has forced his hand.

Dahlin did seem to be moving better and more assertive with the puck vs Florida, but he needs to bring it on both ends and he needs to be a leader.  That's what an $11MM captain is supposed to do.  He's been miles away from that level this year.

The good news is that I do not expect them to come out on home ice like they aren't aware that an NHL game is going on.  They will play hard.

We'll see.  If they win tonight and the new lines look good -- which they might -- they'll be 1 under DeLuca .500 with reason for optimism.

Is it short for anything? Brockolomew? Brockington? Brocklesbury?

I knew a kid in Catholic middle school named Brock.  He had frizzy fro hair in the front and a blonde mullet in the back.  Used to bully the younger kids by sitting on them with his exposed ass cheeks.  That's what I think of when I hear the name Brock.

I don't think a good coach just says something and does it.  I think you have to balance 'accountability' with 'letting a guy work through it.'  And what determines which way you go? What you are seeing on film, what your assistants are saying, when you talk to the guy, what he says. How hard he is working.

Sometimes accountability is justified, but a good coach knows when to go in that direction vs letting guys play through things.

Are we really throwing Dahlin in with those 3 guys. He was injured and still has a goal and 5 assists and is +2 on the year. He has made some bad defensive plays, but we are getting solid, although not ideal production from him. Jack Quinn is a little troubling but maybe he gets it going this month. Odd start to an NHL season for the Sabres.
