Perfect team (even though they are in the division) to offer picks or prospects that might fit that bill for a solid winger/forward. I have no idea if he could make this happen but I would pay higher than value to get Trent Frederic. I'm totally serious here, I think a line of Benson-Frederic-Cozens could be dominant. If not him, somebody similar. A big strong center or winger with adequate speed to fit in. That's what we need and we need it soon to make the leap this year. Boston and Buffalo are not going to make a trade with each other. The only time they traded with each other is when Boston traded for Dan Paille. Competing divisional rivals are just not a match to make a deal. 1 Quote
Carmel Corn Posted November 1 Report Posted November 1 GMKA needs to make a trade soon or lose his job later, but I worry even beyond that. If they fall too far behind by December 1, then they can't realistically make it up later. If fans fail to show up to see yet another failing team, then I fear pressure will mount for the team to move. 1 Quote

When a team's got issues all over a panic trade won't help but we all can clearly see this team has potential but there's one extreme hole that could be fixed on that 2nd line. Adding a player without subtracting from the roster would be the way to go and the sooner the better before things slip away. 2 Quote

Wonder if he's still on his radar and what Anaheim would want for him? I prefer a more grizzled and veteran top 6 guy, someone who has won in the league. We have good young guys already. We need more than that. 2 Quote

If he's leaning strongly toward firing Adams soon... for example if he decided to wait until 20 games to see if the team is a playoff team (and after 10 games it's far from it), then he has every interest in OKing or nixing deals. Especially big ones... I don’t believe you can call it a “meddle”. Go smoke some weed stoner. It’s right there in your backyard. Quote

I agree it doesn't happen much, but I think you are hurting yourself by not trading in your division. You want to make the BEST trade, I don't care if that is with Boston, Toronto, whoever. My goal as a franchise is not to beat the Bruins, it is to beat EVERYONE. If trading with Boston gives me a trade I think is 0.0001% better than an offer I have from a western conference team, I'm making that deal in the division. The only reason I can conceive that teams don't want to do it is if you are afraid you will 'lose' the trade and by playing that team more often it will look worse for you, as a GM. If my GM is afraid of 'looking bad' so hes going to rule out trading in the division, then I want a different GM. 1 Quote

Ol Kevy shouldn’t have to worry about looking bad in a trade because he’s already told us how hard it is to make a trade and he’s tried really hard already. 🤷♂️ But hey, it’s his azz on the line this offseason if the Sabres miss. 1 Quote
triumph_communes Posted November 1 Report Posted November 1 I disagree with the perceived needs for changes. you have superstar Dahlin fighting thru injury you have Tuch and Thompson who their whole career have been physical specimen that are mental midgets. The start of the year trip abroad and changes was too much for them. They’ve since settled in and has a coach who is going to keep things simple for them as they need. Cozens is brain scrambled and keeps getting pushed into a hole he doesn’t fit as some defensive stalwart 2C Chris Drury dream that isn’t him in the first place. He needs some time with the new coach Quinn looks out of shape badly. Injuries etc who knows what’s going on there. I can also believe he is a step behind because he’s having to play defense for real the first time of his hockey career and that is breaking his brain. There are a bunch of players with an offensive mind who never ground it in defense. He could be one of those. He just needs time, he is capable he’s just lost. the 4th line has been dealing with injuries so it hasn’t settled in yet. It’s going to be awesome once it gets comfortable. and a bunch of other players are doing very well who disappeared in the past. Krebs. Greenway. Etc. Goalies need to wake up. That’s separate This is no desperate need for a trade. Another vet like Zucker would be nice, but not mandatory 1 Quote

We need more than that. Didn't say Adams should go get him. Said he was believed to have been in on him and wondered if he still was and what Anaheim would make him give up to land him. This thread says Adams wants to "add." Well, Zegras was a guy he wanted to add earlier. And right now, that is a player type that he has not added to the mix. (He has a bunch of guys in the wings that are more in that mold; but they're all really young. If he did want Zegras then, and a significant portion of the flaw of the top 6 is that Quinn is performing well below expectations; well, Zegras gives the team a playmaker down low on the PP (something the team lacks) and he's a legit top 6 offensive F (what Adams thought he'd have in Quinn) and personally wouldn't be surprised if Adams still wants him. While most here want another power forward, and personally expect in a slightly different vein the team could really use another McLeod; would not be at all surprised if, should Adams make a deal in the next month or so, that he brings in Zegras or that sort of player. GASabresIUFAN Posted November 1 Report Posted November 1 This team needs a playmaking center and at least one stay at home D. Then again these needs haven’t changed since he dumped Mitts for Byram. This trade took away our best playmaking center and gave us a redundant LHD with a skill set we didn’t need. So here we are having to trade assets to replace a player we didn’t need to trade. I’d be thrilled with Zegras, but that doesn’t excuse Adams incompetence. He also needs to trade more assets to get the D he needs to clean up our terrible in zone defense. His re-signing of Joki was mistake here. He should have been traded for other assets and a legit defensive specialist acquired. Truthfully there is no way on G-d’s green earth that Adams can pull off even one of these deals before the deadline and doubtfully even then. He simply doesn’t have the skills necessary to make this team actually competitive. Sorry Lindy. 1 2 Quote

As long as Pegula keeps his hands out of it. Pegula to me needs to have everything run by him, makes suggestions, vetoes what he doesn't like and pushes for what he likes. Have Pegula remove himself from the equation, take a step back and yes, Lets see what Adams does. I'm getting tired of seeing pictures and video clips of Pegula being right beside Adams at games, at practices, etc. 1 Quote

Even Jbot and TM were able to swing deals to bring in real higher end talent why can’t Adams? Skinner, Kane, ROR and Montour to name four. In general I agree with a slow rebuild, but at some point the GM must throw his chips in to get the missing pieces his pipeline didn’t produce. Our pipeline didn’t produce enough defensive D or good centers. Add that he traded away a good center and it’s long past time to fill those holes. 1 Quote
