Sabres take on a Detroit team that is on a 3 game win streak in which they've been out shot by 53%. They have allowed only 1 5v5 goal in that time. Their pp is clicking but their penalty stinks. Will this be the game Buffalo finally gets a pp goal? Can Cozens break out of his slump? Find out all that and more in this afternoon battle of heavy weight bubble teams.

Detroit is on a 3 game win streak where they have been massively outshot every game.

Outshot 39 to 22 against Nashville (won 5-2)

Outshot 30 to 11 against the NYI (won 1-0)

Outshot 40 to 19 against the NJD (won 5-3)

That is 109 to 52 or they are being outshot by 53%.

That is all shocking considering they are tied for 22nd in the league in sh% at 9.9% and for reference, Buffalo is 11th with 11.7%. I only bring all of this up because we see the Red Wings tomorrow and honestly if we can get good goaltending, we should really end their streak because we should be able to play better than them. Of course we also know how streaky this team was last year so would be really nice to see them actually build off the Dallas win.

Edit: Also, I was reading a piece on Detroit and they haven't given up an even strength goal since the first period of the preds game. Considering Buffalo is good 5v5, will be interesting to see if they can breakthrough. Detroit sucks on the PK so maybe Buffalo's PP finally gets a goal.

Can’t watch, so mark it down as a dub

I’m actually casually interested again and might watch. Red Wings will jump out to the infamous 3-0 lead

I get to watch! Live! The NHL schedule makers and my employer let one slip through the cracks.

Luck train? See, there they go again. We should be so lucky.

Division game.  Home game.

If this team is ever going to insert itself and make a statement this would be a good game to do it.

This does seem like a very important game. We have the advantage of being home, healthy, and rested against primary competition. It would be good to see the Sabres take advantage of this.

This is the kind of home game where, last season, a respectable crowd would've shown up and been massively disappointed by the Sabres coming out in a coma for the first 30 minutes, ultimately resulting in yet another awful loss where the fans left the arena disgusted with the team and vowing not to waste hundreds of dollars on that crapola again.

So far this year the Sabres have played well at home.  If they deliver a rousing win today it will help in the standings and in convincing the fans to return.

Bring the passion boys.

Detroit starting a red hot goalie and they are on a 3 game winning streak. Great test for the Sabres.  Been off for a few days which means we should be very healthy, but also means we could be a little rusty in the 1st period.  I think Lindy will have them ready. I am going Monday night, but wished I could have gone to this one. The place should be rocking.

It is crazy but the Sabres could be in 1st place in the Atlantic after Monday night.

Big crowd here already.  Lots of kids.  Should be a fun atmosphere if Sabres bring it

So no change in the lines.  That’s OK with me.  I think Cozens’ line is going to start showing up.

They are actually updated
