Idemo Buffalo Posted October 23 Report Posted October 23 Going to go out on a limb and say when it is all said and done, Dahlin will deliver multiple Stanley Cups to Buffalo and go down as the greatest Sabre in history. Good guy and exceptional talent. 2 1 1 1 Quote
Doohicksie Posted October 24 Report Posted October 24 I wonder of there are consultant firms behind professional athlete charitable startups? Quote
bunomatic Posted October 24 Report Posted October 24 Ras you’re a real Dahl. Thanks buddy. Not sure why this isn’t getting any traction. It sure will help those kids. 2 Quote

Probably some have consultants, but Dahlin's girlfriend is very well liked in the community and she is probably the one helping steer the new foundation's efforts. Dahlin has a history helping children with cancer and children with down's syndrome. The girl who dropped the puck on Hockey fights cancer night last year is close with Dahlin. She has some very rare cancer. She amazingly beat it, but sadly it has returned according to her go fund me page. I think Dahlin's Foundation is helping Courage For Carly, the charity Ryan Miller worked with. Dahlin's Foundation and Tuch's Foundation AT9 are also backing the Sabre's Learn to Play program. I'd also assume that the team's business office offers some support, guidance. He's the captain. I'm sure the team wants him taking on this sort of role in the community. It's a sign of the times, I reckon, that he's taking on a public role together with his girlfriend (not (yet) his wife). 1 Quote
Doohicksie Posted October 24 Report Posted October 24 I'll bet there is a company (or companies) out there that offer turnkey create-a-charity services, who know all the financial and legal regulations for that kind of thing, and have "templates" for charity startups. Looks like it: https://startupsavant.com/best-nonprofit-formation-services Quote
Happy Days Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 Way to go Rasmus! Any more details on this? Also can someone post other Sabre player charities too? Quote

Team is very young. Not a lot of foundations. Players like Tage Thompson and others also work with established foundations. Tuch is from the area and Dahlin is obviously the face of the franchise and will be here at least through 2032 (he likes Buffalo and won't ever be traded). Makes sense those 2 have foundations. Alex Tuch's Foundation. AT9. https://www.at9foundation.org/ Rasmus Dahlin Foundation https://www.rasmusdahlinfoundation.com/ Quote
ska-T Chitown Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 (edited) Can I be "that guy" and ask that we change the possessive in the title so it does not appear one kid has multiple lives? Edited October 25 by ska-T Chitown 1 Quote
LETSTUCHINGO Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 The Sabre's sponsored Learn-To-Play program is amazing and is how my 7 yr old was introduced to hockey! Didn't know until now that it is sponsored by Dahl's and Tuch's foundations, love them even more now! 1 Quote
Stoner Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 The ones who do it without fanfare, and I believe there are many, deserve even more credit IMHO. Quote
LGR4GM Posted October 25 Author Report Posted October 25 I don't. Why should Dahlin or Allen do this without fanfare? Part of the way they help these people is by using their name/celebrity to generate interest. Quote

These guys bring attention to causes. Many of those causes need the attention. Especially the causes Tuch and Dahlin support. Things like Seneca Street CDC, Gigi's Playhouse, and Courage of Carly aren't exactly household names. Those charities benefit when people with some fame help them. It brings attention and money. Often the beneficiaries of these charities didn't even know the charities existed and get needed help from them. I bet the Bills fans donating all the money to Andy Dalton's cause not only brought money to the cause, but alerted people about it. Often people that are in tough spots don't even know that there are charities that can help them. Let's face it, non-profits need money and attention. Some are not so great, but others are crucial to communities. Quote
