DarthEbriate Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 Need some distraction from the Sabres? Rochester starts a back-to-back home-and-home with the Marlies. Some Marlies you might know? Alexander Nylander and Matt "once-refused-a-trade-to-Buffalo" Murray. Speaking of Nylander (who could get a callup and play with his brother now)... Jokiharju is quietly having another calm, steady, if not overwhelming season. He has more goals than Dahlin, more hits than Power, more shots through to the net than Byram, fewer goal-producing turnovers than Samuelsson, and the best defensive +/- on the roster (mainly because he isn't on the ice for PP and when the goalie is pulled). Ctaeth Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 Interested in how rosen is going to do this season if kulich stays with the sabres. Would be nice to see him be more willing to be the driver and shoot more as opposed to taking a back seat to kulich Quote
DarthEbriate Posted October 18 Author Report Posted October 18 And if these new droids captains (and alternates) don't work out, I want to transmit my attention to the Americans this year. Quote
mjd1001 Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 Wish the Amerks were on MSG. I'd watch. Not appointment television, but I'd probably have at least half the games 'on'. I just don't want another expensive subscription. Quote

DarthEbriate Posted October 19 Author Report Posted October 19 Lead... blown. 2-0 became 2-4. And just like the parent squad, the Amerks have no PP goals on the season. Quote

Amerks8796 Posted October 19 Report Posted October 19 Too young, too small. I'm all for prospects and skill, but I think they've gone too far. Dunne was a nice addition but they need another veteran. They lost Mersch, Weissbach, Biro, Richards and Dunne was the only experienced players brought in. And Sandstrom is obviously abysmal. 1 Quote

It's almost as if Kevyn Adams is completely incompetent and unqualified as a GM or something. Quote

He came out to play the puck with plenty of time. I think he wanted to shoot it out of the zone then when pressure came he tries to wrap it around behind the goal. Instead of going behind the goal it banks to the front of the crease which he is 15 feet away from where Nylander gets the easy tap in. That sucked. Quote

The Amerks deserved better last night. They totally controlled play in the 1st. They had speed the won battles and even though the power play did not score it got in the zone had good movement and number of shots that the goalie made good saves on. They kind of lapsed a little in the second after they got the 2-0 lead then when the Sandstrom give away goal happened they got a little sloppy after. Going into the third down 3-2 does not stop another in close shot. The difference was goaltending. Rosen blew a breakaway attempt, Rousek raced to get a get a puck, Toronto's D man can't keep up so he does the slide, and somehow Rousek jumps over him with the puck to get a shot off. Akhtyamaov was good for Toronto and that was how they won. As far as the prospects they all had moments. I would not say anyone looked dominant. Helenius is the youngest player in the AHL and he looked comfortable. Rathbone was an interesting pick up. He has good shot. He is an undersized D man but should be a good Amerk and emergency call up. Edited October 19 by Jorcus Quote
