Flashsabre Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I mean how many times can we go through this? I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch a game this season. I just read the results and I have no emotional reaction anymore. If this season goes the way it is starting then I honestly have no idea what this franchise does. It will have lost all goodwill with the fanbase. The only way I see things changing is removing the common denominator the past 14 years, Pegula. Then you are looking at starting over again. All the young players and draft picks in the world mean nothing if you can’t build a team properly. If Pegula cans Adams who does he bring in if he doesn’t trust NHL people? Ah, remember when Bill Zito was under consideration as GM? What could have been. 1 Quote
SABRES 0311 Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 But but but they need 20-25 games to learn the system, coach, and new players. Not like they had a training camp and a bunch of preseason games of all starting roster players in Prague. Oh yeah, and bunch of regular season games. 1 Quote
PerreaultForever Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I've felt like this many times but like an old junkie I just never quit. Watching other teams or I lose my love for hockey. That's the only thing that has kept me going. 1 1 2 Quote
Gatorman0519 Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I live in Florida and last year my family rebelled and said we are rooting for the Panthers. It was an enjoyable experience watching that cup run. I didn’t even feel bad about it. The Sabres deserted us a long time ago. 1 Quote
zow2 Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I'm a fan for 40+ years. I live in a different city now but can't get myself to root for another NHL team. So my interest in NHL hockey has declined massively over the past decade. Thank you Sabres! 5 Quote

Every year i look forward to the new season and hope they finally get it right. I will get angry of the stupid play and crappy on ice product that we have in Buffalo until i realize this team is just not worth the aggravation and get numb for the rest of the season and watch other teams. I use my favorite phrase.... Wash, rinse repeat. Life of a Sabre's fan. 3 Quote
xzy89c1 Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 did not renew Espn+ this year so I am not subjecting my wife to my frustrations. Ruff on a two-year contract leaves Adams in complete control. Our top 6 is just not good enough. There is not a number one or even number two center on the team. Cozens and Thomas are both best as wingers. Don't think we have a playoff caliber goalie on the roster., and certainly not a win a round in the playoff's goalie. Let's go Bills 3 Quote
Alaska John Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I watched the highlights of the Sabres' only win of the year, when the Panthers started a terrible goalie and played without key players who were injured. The Sabres scored but many goals were soft. Now I just check the scores to see their latest loss, and I shrug. Like others I haven't been able to root for another team, even though I left Buffalo nearly 50 years ago. And so I just ignore the NHL regular season, except to check the scores and shake my head. 2 Quote

They will be home for 2 weeks for the first time in a long time. This is usually when things get figured out. Quote
mjd1001 Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I think I'm in the same place a lot of people I know are.... A game is on TV and nothing else is going on, I watch it. Post to the forum. Complain when they play bad. But if I have something better to do, I do that. If I start watching a game and they are losing by 2 goals at the end of the first....then I go to the wife and say "game is bad, want to watch a show"? After the show if the game is still on, I'll check the score...still losing? never tune back in. Not going to any games, not buying any merchadise. 1 1 1 Quote
Southern Sabres Fan Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 We are Amerks season ticket holders and so we get 2 free tickets to a Sabres game. We usually look forward to it and make it a weekend in Buffalo. We watch every game on TV and decided not to spend the $20 in gas to drive over to Buffalo this year. Just sick of the same crap every year. 1 Quote

Glad I have the Golden Knights to root for (thankfully in the Western Conf) so my love for hockey hasn't been diminished too bad. Still love the Sabres, but its getting harder and harder to keep positive about this club unfortunately. 1 Quote

Goldseatsaud Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I watched the baseball games yesterday. I have very little interested now. I been a fan since 1970. It’s so sad. I don’t think in my life that I’ll ever experience anything like the 74/75 era. Maybe a new owner could change things. 2 Quote
7+6=13 Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I still root for them and will always love the Sabres. I watch the majority of the games. I could never just flip to another team. The worst fans, IMO, are the ones that wouldn't care if Buffalo lost the team. Things aren't good, I don't know why and neither do any of us. Truly. There's times when I know expectations are and should be low. For me, I think we should be better than this. Maybe that's worse. 1 Quote

Kings game was great too with the exception of the 3rd period, but they were only a few days back from a trip to Europe, so running out of gas in the 3rd period is no surprise. 38 minutes ago, nucci said: Check the home record the last few seasons. OverPowerYou Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I’m at the point where I’ll probably check in at the end of every month and see if they are worth watching in the standings 1 Quote

The only way they will get the message is in their super thin pocketbook. Let them know you won’t support an inferior product by eliminating them from your life. You’ll be happier and probably me tally healthier. 1 Quote
Cascade Youth Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I just don't spend money on the product. I'll watch (on ESPN+, which I have anyway) if I have time, but I don't go out of my way. It's consumer fraud. Quote

I live in a western time zone, so the games start at 4 PM when I'm at work. I watch the games several hours later, usually after they've ended. When watching, if they are down 2 or more goals, I fast forward until I see them cut it to 1, then I watch and see if they can tie it up or take the lead. Last night, it was typically only a few seconds before I was back on the fast forward button. If the Sabres could play a complete, competitive game, or even dominate a game, I'm willing to invest the time to watch it, but I just can't afford the time for lousy hockey. Watching the game is typically the last thing I do before going to bed, so it sucks going to bed angry and frustrated and could negatively impact my sleep. Sadly, I've gotten to the acceptance phase, so I slept OK last night. 1 Quote

Not shocked only 5 days after a European road trip. Buddy I was at the Kings game and they did not play great, or even very good. Five days after a Euro trip was plenty of time to rest and be ready for their home opener and they came out flat against a tired Kings team that was on the road. They played "ok" for two periods but they could not score and they looked like a team that doesn't even know each other. They never gave the crowd any feeling that they were dominating either. Fans were booing at the slightest mistakes. The Sabres folded in the 3rd period at the first sign of adversity. Literally their best players gave that game away. Zucker broke a stick in the penalty box and got tossed, and Cozens broke two more after the empty netter. They showed no character. People were walking out of the arena very frustrated. The comments were brutal. Next home game was better but keep in mind they beat Florida's backup goalie while Florida played without Barkov and Tkachuk, their two best players. Even in the Pittsburgh game, they got lucky that Jarry was off. The TNT announcers told the viewers that Pittsburgh looked better in the first period, even being down 3-1, and they were right. Sure enough Pittsburgh won. Last night they lost to a poor team. They were never in it. That was the second night of a B2B, but that is an excuse. Its great to be a loyal fan but look at the big picture here. 3 1 Quote
