Starting to think the 20 game thing maybe not be true? Even the most optimistic of fans have to be hanging on by a thread at this point.

CBJ, you don't lose letting them score 6

I think what people fail to realize that it isn’t just Adams, he has a collective team of people in the organization before they make moves. We have all seen it in the embedded videos. Not sticking up for Terry in any such way but he has spent money on players or at least let them spend money. The problem is it hasn’t worked. How many GM’s, coaches, and players have left. We heard the last core was rotten, 3 of them win Stanley Cups after leaving and were key contributors in helping those teams. I’m talking about O’Reilly, Eichel, and Reinhart. Now this team is rotten. Both built by rookie GM’s. Even some of the coaches were reaches. Why didn’t Adams let go all these assistant coaches when Lindy was brought in? There is no easy fix to this mess.

It’s also weird bad luck that the two years we got the first pick none of the elite offensive talents were there. One thing we have historically lacked is a superstar forward. Perrault and LaFontaine were probably the only two.

Totally agree, sad thing is that Dahlin and Power were paid way too much without ever really helping this team take the next step. You have to wonder what JJ Peterka is going to be asking for since his contract is almost up.

Depends how you define "elite". If you didn't want D men you could have taken Svechnikov, or Brady Tkachuk even. Beniers instead of Power.

But then you'd have to address D wouldn't you?

Eichel and Reinhart are both elite by the way. Eichel for sure.

Just want to point out that Matty Beniers has 104pts in 172 games and McTavish has 90 in 156. Oh and Wyatt Johnson is great while Isak Rosen is a trade chip at best.

And you will notice we only drafted one. It is impossible to be this bad at drafting... yet here we are.

Truth... when teams need help they literally must go in to the office and say

GM  We need to get a great player cheap with upside potential that can help us win... !

Asst GM : Well thats nice Mr Gm, should I just stop at the Wegmans and get one

GM:  No you jacka$$ get Adams on the phone!

Asst GM: Brilliant Sir! Thats why they pay you the big bucks....

(GM shakes head)

We had those.... Eichel??? Reinhart? Better players, same results. This is an organization issue of mismanagement and poor decisions on putting a team together and hiring the wrong managing people. This is what happens when a fan runs the team.

The Sabres are playing Saturday evening. I used to look forward to games like this where I could sit back and watch the game and flip between college football games. Now when I think about it I get a queasy feeling in my stomach.

I would just stick to watching college football. Watching the Sabres play can be exhausting!

Eichel and Reinhart

I’ve pretty much checked out . Can’t say I’m excited for any Sabres game already this early in the season. I want this team to figure it out so bad. The only way they will lure me back in is with wins. When they put winning in the present ahead of all other pursuits I will get excited. Until then FUTP.

Eventually Dahlin will be traded and will win his Stanley Cup wherever he goes.

He’s got an $11M cap hit that would require us taking back an equally big contract.  I think any blockbuster trade Sabres could make would require a package of our overpaid contract(s) along with guys like Thompson, JJ, Benson, Greenway.

Sabres at this moment are the poster child for not building through the draft.   Panthers and Vegas are the opposite spectrum.  I forget what GM I was listening to last week but he emphasized a strong veteran core that you bring youth into - not the opposite.

It was a joke. Dahlin isn't going anywhere.  When he wins his first Stanely Cup it will be with Buffalo.

I get what people say about giving it time. The Blues took a couple months to turn things around the season they win the cup but that was also mid-season coaching change. The Sabres had training camp to begin to learn his system. I will give them to the first week of November before I will completely write off the season.
