French Collection Posted October 12 Report Posted October 12 Gritty defending Cup champs coming in after a loss to Ottawa to play a soft, beaten down Sabres team. My expectations are really low so they probably pull this one out. Blind squirrel, meet nut. 2 Quote

Demoted Posted October 12 Report Posted October 12 Are we going to get a thread that shows how many teams make the playoffs after 0-4? Quote
FrenchConnection44 Posted October 12 Report Posted October 12 We shouldn’t have any shot at winning this game, so we probably will. If we are anything like last year’s team. But then we are sure to lose to the Blue Jackets and Blackhawks. Lol Quote
pastajoe Posted October 12 Report Posted October 12 The Sabres set the example for their minor league teams as both Rochester and Jacksonville lost their home openers before large crowds. And like the Sabres they also couldn’t score on the power play. Quote

Stads Posted October 12 Report Posted October 12 According to the numbers in the OP, we are beating Florida in PK and Faceoffs. They have a better goals against and goals for. We are tied at 0% for the PP. We're better in two and they're better in the other two with a tie in the fifth category. That tells me these teams are evenly matched. 2 Quote

Lindy has vanquished it. They delivered a good effort vs the Kings and will do so again tonight. They need Dahlin, TT, Cozens and Quinn to find their mojos and start producing. At least 1 of them is going to do so tonight. I'm kinda hoping Lindy benches Samuelsson for that idiotic penalty that gave the Kings the 5-on-3 and plays Gilbert, who gets in at least 2 fights and fires everyone up. It is ON. 5 Quote

I agree on benching Samuelsson, it is time for Lindy to set the tone and benching a guy with an "A" is a good place to start. I disagree that Lindy has vanquished their home ice malaise. They were ok for 2 periods, but they lacked finish and they still do not play with any confidence. You can sense they are still digesting whatever Lindy is asking them to do. The 3rd period their best player coughs up the puck, that leads to a goal, and entire building was bracing for the inevitable, and it seemed like the players were too. It felt like the players and the fans need an exorcism. Winning consistently is the only remedy. I am telling Rico, you can feel an unhealthy tension in that building. So many fans around me up in the 300's were just waiting to boo and to complain. The home ice thing is still something that Lindy has to fix. All that said, I think they can win tonight. I think a few players will break out and get on the score sheet (Tage, Quinn, etc). There is a lot of hockey left but the time is now. Someone has to step up. Edited October 12 by Pimlach Quote

I had you pegged for a luxury suite. I am with you and others about the benching of Mule. Messages need to be sent. Plus I want to see the sandpaper and grit of Gilbert tonight. Although I’m watching tape delayed as my son and I are flying in to Buffalo from the west coast and don’t land until 10pm. We'll be there to see them play the Dallas Stars. Must Win. 1 Quote

I haven’t spent a penny on the Sabres since Covid and am completely disgusted with Pegula, but if I did go to a game, I wouldn’t be looking to boo at the first bad PP or goal against. 1 Quote

I’ll do the Suite or buy 200’s if the situation is right. But I choose to sit with my brother and nephew (age 31) and with his buddies. Keeps a man young, and I could get a feel for things from the critical portion of the fan base - young season ticket holders. They are the last to boo and the most hopeful. Mule just happens to be the first deserving of a wake up call. Gilbert deserves some ice. 1 Quote
