Is there much business/entertainment activity around the arena or is it just a spillover from game nights?

There's literally a Casino, Beer Hall, all of DT's restaurants and breweries within walking distance of the Arena... so yes. Also toss out River Works and Resurgence and Southern Tier. I'm dt multiple times a month for other entertainment or eating related adventures.

Product on the ice? Our sad devotion to that ancient religion has not helped us conjure up entertainment value or given us clairvoyance enough to better understand the sport, in the way the scoreboard will

This is the way how we win.

John, Downtown Buffalo is 500 times better now than in our day.   There is business conducted down there and the office space is mostly utilized.  Many young people work and live DT, or at least hang around after work.

In the summer there are outdoor events and live music going all the time.

I am thinking of hitting Cobblestones for dinner, in the Cobblestone District right next to HSBC.

Lets Go Buff-a-lo (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap).

Ooh - Ahh - Sabres on the warpath!

I have been long time gone. Still have relatives there. It's great to hear what you and @LGR4GM said about that downtown and arena area. 🍺

I always see it and think what a bizarre name they have.  It’s pizza plant but picture of a planet as if that’s what they were going for.  Been meaning to try it sometime but my kids always insist on going to Chefs.

As much as people will call blasphemy... I am not a fan of Chefs.. at all. It was all the rage with my son's hockey teams when we ended up in Buffalo but it was just not for me.

Agreed on Pizza Plant being sort of a curious place -- my kids always called it "Pizza Planet" when they were young -- I think partially for the reasons you note above. The Syracuse brothers operate those restaurants -- they're damn good at what they do.

Also, with regard to the downtown Buffalo Pizza Plant: Anyone (male) ever use the bathroom there? ... The gal whose poster-picture you see on your way out of the john is a legendary smoke show.

Can confirm.

Hofbrauhaus has some good eats too, their house Heifeweizen is delicious.

Where we all meeting?!

That's my backup.  Although I do love a few litres of beer before the game.  Also, it used to be either free or super cheap parking.

Well obviously KA didn't do enough this off-season if Greenway is the  replacement for an injury on the top line. Oh well, what's new. Always to little, to late.

Anyways, GO SABRES!!!

I agree. I don't get downtown enough, but there are plenty of things to do, plenty of places to go for food or a drink compared to years ago.

Is it as nice/busy/trendy as the Seaport in Boston or L.A. Live in socal? No...it isn't. But its not meant to be. It has a different feel to it...to some maybe a more 'real' or 'organic' feel to it.  You can always find a place to go before a game.
