sabremike Posted October 8 Report Posted October 8 I am flying up Thursday morning for the opener and have a room at the Motel 6 in Amherst booked for after the game. Does anyone know the best most affordable way to get there via public transportation from downtown? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted October 8 Report Posted October 8 @sabremikeYou can take the metro rail outside the arena towards UB downtown and hit the 44 bus from there... But honestly that'll take well over and hour and Will just be a pain. Lyft/Uber is your best bet 20 minutes. I'd just walk a few blocks away from chaos and then hit the app and get a ride that way. Buffalo doesn't have much else available for ya 2 Quote

Buffalo doesn't have much else available for ya I’d train to UB South for cheap then Uber to the hotel. That’s likely the cheapest. 4 1 Quote

You'll be at a university so there is always Uber there. The metro is free from the arena to the fountain Plaza stop, after that it's very cheap to get a ticket to UB. 2 Quote

You’ll pay on your way out up the escalator. Edited October 8 by Porous Five Hole Quote

Easiest way would be to go to UB South Campus and take the metro rail downtown. Lyft is cheaper than Uber, FYI and have used it several times with good results. Edited October 8 by matter2003 Quote

I assume it is the motel 6 by the 290 (4400 Maple Rd, Amherst, NY 14226). As others have commented, take the train from the arena to UB South, then get an uber from UB to the motel which is a short 5min ride up millersport and a quick turn on flint and another quick turn on maple and you are there. There are busses that run up Millersport and turn onto Flint and drop off because of all the UB students but idk the schedule for the public busses. UB busses wouldn't be open to you because they would ask for ID I assume. An Uber is about 15-20bucks from UB South to Flint rd (which is right by your motel) so that is your pricing. As someone upthread noted the 44 Bus would get you pretty close. Get off on the closest stop to Maple (the Flint road part is less than a .25 mile long anyway and then it is just a quick walk over the 290 bridge, be aware there are not sidewalks but there is a sizable shoulder. https://metro.nfta.com/legacy/metro/pdfs/44.pdf Where the dotted line crosses the 290, just above where it says Millersport and Sheridan, that is roughly your hotel. I would guess it is just under a .25 mile from the light at flint and maple to that motel 6 (maybe more like .10 of a mile tbh). Anyways, if you are at another motel 6... sorry. None of this is helpful. Also there is an anchor bar next to it but honestly, go back to Flint and go to Wingnutz, they have better wings (that anchorbar is a franchised location). 1 1 Quote
That Aud Smell Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 The NFTA metro rail to University Station, and to an Uber or Lyft, is the move, as many have noted. Go, Sabres!! Quote
