There likely is - Hamilton f'n with people. He also bumped Dahlin to the 2nd pairing. (And yes, Power-Byram technically started the game on Saturday. But the 4th line started the game on Friday. Don't mean much.) 1 1 Quote

Mittelstadt developed. Once he did, we traded him for another youngun who may or may not turn out. As I've started before, Byran was a net negative expected goal player on the Avalanche, which is really hard to do on a team that good. Not writing him off as a player, but his game needs further development to justify the trade. 1 1 1 Quote
Derrico Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 Finally some good news seeing reports that JJ and Benson back practising. 4 Quote

Mr Peabody Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 IMO it’s the first line that needs the best YOY improvement to even be in the hunt for a playoff spot. 1 3 Quote

DarthEbriate Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 Or it's just transposing lines 2 and 3 and nothing to dwell on. 1 Quote
CallawaySabres Posted October 9 Report Posted October 9 Anyone who thinks that the lineup above is playoff caliber is just relying on hope. As someone else mentioned, there is an ENTIRE 2nd line that is non-existent. How in the world can the talent on this roster still be this bad?? You have to intentionally draft this badly in order to still be in this position. Quote

Tuch, Thompson, and (arguably) Cozens, provided 1st line production in 22-23. None of our forwards have consistently produced at the level of a first line player, though. Big rebounds by Thompson and Tuch and/or a substantial step forward from a couple other players is needed for us to have a viable 1st line and top-six. Or, we need to transition to being a team that consistently wins low scoring games. 1 1 Quote

Channeling my inner @Thorner and extrapolating one of his more favored points - we don't have to have the best 2nd line in hockey ... if all of our lines are around the 8th best in the Eastern Conference - we should make the playoffs. 8th. 8 out of 16. I don't know if we are there yet, on average ... but it seems like such an achievable goal (here comes the real Thorner good stuff) that to not have ACCIDENTALLY achieved this combined with plain old average tendies in the last thirteen years is hilariously improbable ... but here we are. 🤷♂️ 1 Quote

Or you trade away Eichel, Reinhart, Montour, Ullmark, Mittelstadt, and others and are still trying to replace them with prospects and low end free agents. 4 Quote
