Man, this team just does absolutely nothing for me. I see the names, but they might as well be something generated by ChatGPT.

You know, I hadn’t really thought about it but…..GMGPT has a nice ring to it. That’s a good idea, they should try hiring it

Krebs is definitely a top line guy.

If Peyton Krebs played the entire season on a line with Tuch and Thompson, how many goals does he get? 12-15, thats all I have.

He will never have a better chance to get his career in order than until JJP returns. Then, he can keep it going while skating for Aube-Kubel.

Krebs has a desperate home audience in a home opener with a fragile fan base watching on TV. All he needs to do is go hard to the net, go hard to the corners, and skate and battle his hinder off. Open up space for TNT's shot and for a D-man to jump into a play down low. Maybe draw a retaliatory penalty. He can still be the unsung hero of the rebellion (as one of the offspring of Jackikin, he can still be Wedge. Or he can be Biggs.)

Power play units in practice today...

Yeah, I know Peterka is hurt, but this...this doesn't seem to inspire confidence...or fear in any opponent.

It would be nice if Hambone or somebody that watches practice would say if they're still working on that atrocious drop pass to start EVERY entry that ends up with everybody but the puck carrier stationary at the blue line.  Honestly thought with getting rid of Ellis that would be a thing of the past.  Apparently because it can work against AHLers, Appert hasn't come up with an actually plan to gain the zone.

Wasn't thrilled with Appert being the only addition to the coaching staff besides Ruff.  If they're still running that God awful drop pass against the Kings, will have my new whipping boy.

Hear, hear.

Good to see you here. I wish the team were more promising.

Is there some clever YouTuber out there who can show me how other teams are doing PP zone entry?

If memory serves, the Sabres surrendered two SH breakaways when the Devils dispossessed Thompson and then Quinn.

No, he is not. That doesn't mean that there isn't a role for him on this team, but I don't see it on either of the two top lines.

Kulich-Cozens-Quinn.

I have good vibes for that.

They played together on saturday. I forget the article I saw, but they were essentially the worst three forwards for the game.

Edit: this site: https://buffalohockeynow.com/2024/10/05/sabres-struggle-yet-again-as-thompson-tuch-levi-only-bright-spots-kulich-quinn-cozens-buffalo-new-jersey-devils/

So, maybe not the most reputable (apologies) and certainly an internet trash bin of ads (double apology), but I watched most of the game and that line was not good.

I still can’t get over the fact that Malenstyn is on our team. Oh wait, yeah I can. It’s the Sabres

are there 64 better 4th line wingers in the NHL? I only mean that half-sarcastically. I suspect way more teams than just the Sabres have a bunch of JAGs hanging out on line 4. He was not even close to the worst Sabre on the ice at any given time in those 2 games.

Help me understand…are you upset about our fourth line winger? Or what the Sabres paid to get him? He leads the team in hits (tied with nine) and he looks fast.  I didn’t see any egregious errors (I half watched each game). He’s even through two games.

Jokiharju as a top pairing- Gross

Bryson ? This is the best we've got? Come on man how is bryson a better option than Kulich?

Umm, Bryson was filling in on the 4th line because there are 3 injured F's in the top 12 and the 2 spare F's (1 of whom is Kulich) were inserted into the top 2 lines at this practice.

But, yes.  Before too long into the season they are likely going to need to either break up Power - Byram or move Samuelsson up a couple of pairings.  Jokiharju has only ever looked like he might be a 2 when he was paired with Scandella and the rest of the D were playing like hot garbage.  No matter how great a guy Henri might be nor how good he may look in practice going up against the Sabres top 2 lines; he simply isn't a 2 and isn't strong enough in his own end to make him a passable fill in at that role.

If Power and Byram continue to look like they're gaining chemistry with each other am expecting they'll be pretty much forced to flip Muel and Henri and drive @Thorner to distraction with a L-L top pair, a L-L 2nd pair, and a R-R 3rd pair.  Just fear that they'll give up too many scoring chances with Henri on the ice against other teams' top lines unless they significantly shuffle the F's around to make sure they have defensively responsible F's going against the other teams' top lines and they likely don't have a deep enough roster right now to make that happen.

Well as an example to illustrate this Florida lost some free agents and their 4th line had AJ Greer and Jesper Boquist on it. Greer was waived 2 years ago by the Bruins (and could have been claimed by the Sabres) and Boquist was waived several times last year by the Bruins. Both those guys looked better than any of our 4th line did. Not saying they are better, but in a good solid system serviceable 4th liners are a dime a dozen. We should have 3 or 4 of them in Rochester. Most teams do.

Can you get over the fact we traded a 2nd round pick for this AHL caliber player? The kind of player you see on the waiver wire constantly. See above.

lol - careful or someone will get upset at all the bRuInS talk 😉

I think that was sorta my point. Malenstyn is likely a serviceable 4th liner, by NHL standards ... wait for it ... in a good system, which to date, we do not have. I thought the fourth line looked much improved over last year, but that is a low bar and maybe I am still high on hopium?
