Healthy scratch enough times until he qualified for a 14 day conditioning stint with Rochester, then decide what to do with him. They finally get the appearance a stable goaltending situation in Buffalo and then this happens. They should have went with 13 forwards, 7 defenders and 3 goaltenders until the goaltending situations settled around the league. One of the things that Marek and Friedman were discussing on an old episode of 32 Thoughts was a possible change in the next CBA that might gain traction is the idea of teams having 24 roster spots with the 24th spot going to a designated third goalie. I hadn’t even thought about how job creation might actually be a bad thing with the revenue share. I don’t really see how they would get anything out of this. Creating a roster slot so that a guy can never play and constantly have to ride the shuttle to and from the AHL with no chance of going anywhere else… it sounds horrible. It depends on the timing. If he's still within his original waiver period, any other team that claimed him gets a shot first.
