It's 4 points to a conference opponent. There's more here than merely "waiting for the team to find themselves" or "giving them time to get to know each other". The season has started, training camp is over. Setting the tone for the season by handing 4 points to a conference opponent while not showing up, at all, is quite frankly......disgraceful. 1 3 1 Quote

We’ve seen this many times before and it always ends the same. If we don’t respond we could start out 0-4 easily. 2 Quote

This team is a joke, might as well join along. 2 Quote
Wyldnwoody44 Posted October 5 Report Posted October 5 I mentioned I wasn't too mad about game 1 and that game 2 would be the real answer. We got it. They played "marginally" better, sorta. The shots were absolutely out of hand, and this team seemed to pack it in. Clean hit or not, I needed to see some fire from this team, OK cool, good for tuch; but cmon, where was even an attempt to throw a hit at anyone on their team. Where is 11 million dollar captain? Tage one dangle and lose the puck, even Quinn is non existent. Something is wrong in Sabreland 1 Quote

Are they literally that bad individually at hockey? Do they all hate one another? Are they all seeing the same motivational speaker in one on one sessions? I mean for real, what in the hell were they doing during the games? They looked like a pack of monkeys trying to hump the same football. 1 1 Quote

We'd be lucky if they're trying to hump a football, at least someone would get "up" for the game 2 Quote
sabremike Posted October 5 Report Posted October 5 That was as thoroughly dominated as you will ever see a team be dominated, like watching an NHL team play an AHL one. Without Levi this one is at least 7-1. 4 Quote

Lindy is probably having a dark realization right now just how bad they are. 2 Quote

Maybe that’s what we’ll see, which is more along the lines of what you see with most teams re: splits. Maybe we get back to NA and they look like a different team on home ice/frees Lindy up a little bit or something. They might look different against a lot of teams in the league. I think the devils are that good. 1 2 Quote

This year should have been upgrading Joker, Tuch or Cozens, and Muel. Quote
Dryballs Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 (edited) I appreciate Tuch defending Peterka BUT can't help but wish somebody would teach him how to fight. .. Love the guy but you can do better Alex. Ok.. yeah.. the league has changed. Pretty obvious but it's also obvious that it's still a game where intimidation still happens. So, it will always be necessary to be able to defend teammates. ... Thanks Alex but get a heavy bag and a trainer. .... All that said..... it's game two so gotta not over react. Indabuff Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 Could you imagine if Jerry Jones owned this franchise? He may be a meddler but heads would have rolled years ago. This franchise is an embarrassment. It's on autopilot without any direction, content on just the fact that exists. Quote

He is the general manager, though he has assistance for contracts/cap work. The only time he gets upset is if the coach also wants to be in charge of the roster. He’s in a 4-team division that includes frequent ineptitude in the Giants and DC and yet hasn’t made an NFC title game since the 90s. He let Garrett be his coach for 9 years. McCarthy is on his fifth. Jones is a softie who wants a yes-man as coach. As long as he’s on TV and his team is on primetime slots, he’s happy as a clam. 2 Quote
French Collection Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 What a lousy weekend. Those games bookended my worst round of golf in 30 years. I am not in a good mood but I will not pile on. I give these guys more time than this but they make it so damn hard to be a fan. The goaltending was good and that is an important building block. They need to win a few to get some confidence and start to play more instinctively. Dahlin needs to get healthy, he can be a difference maker but he looks like 50% out there. I hope JJP and Benson are back for the home opener. 1 Quote

Mango Posted October 6 Report Posted October 6 6 hours ago, Scottysabres said: Their talent had little to do with what went on these past 2 games. Puck possession is everything, the Devils had it, in spades, the Sabres had none. That's just the truth. Lost pucks, puck battles, poor zone exits, entries, all starts with strong puck possession. This entire roster does not hustle to the puck, with puck or to a high danger position to receive the puck, and it shows. The hardest part of the lst 13 years is that the team is just terrible to watch about 85% of the time for the exact reasons you state. Looking at 22-23, even though we were short and a bit under maned, that was a team that tried most nights. Trying makes watchable hockey. And probably increases our average attendance from 77% to somewhere 85-90%. I have to imagine Terry is under pressure from the league. We’re a top 5 TV market and bottom 5 attendance. 2 Quote
