Once he leaves Buffalo is game will do a complete 180 and most likely will win the Cup.

I know that’s happened, and it might here but for different reasons. I think we have a collection of good players who had the wrong onboarding into the league, which makes them collectively a bad unit. But once they go on and are forced to just fall in line as an individual with stronger on ice leadership they’ll be fine.

Its game one.  I'm not too worried.  Not happy, but its early.

For all those who want/think Lindy will make a difference, this is the FIRST time he is seeing this team play against another teams #1's. All preseason they didn't get that. If he is going to make adjustments/call out guys, this is the first real chance he has to see that in person (other than in practice).

Cozens.  I'm might be one of the, if not THE biggest critic of him.  He has 'first line' raw talent, but his head just doesn't seem to process NHL hockey.  I'm hopeful he's going to take a big step forward this year, but so far, it is early, but its not looking good.

I don’t think Lindy understands the urgency this franchise needs positive results.  If the team looks like this 5 games into the season, they’ll lose the dental floss thin grasp that most fans have for hope on the season.

Exactly this. I understand taking the "build from within" approach. FA's aren't pounding on the door to play for a franchise that is a total punchline at this point. But with 13 seasons without the playoffs, patience isn't a luxury they have. We are at the point where the dividends need to be paid. I wasn't remotely sold on bringing a retirement-age Lindy back, but I figured give him a chance. I'm not going to write them off after one game, but they do not have a lot of runway this season. We need to see results and if we don't, Adams needs to go, Ruff needs to go, a few pieces of this core need to go, and Pegula needs to get serious about a fast turnaround by bringing in a good hockey mind with experience to oversee reshaping the organization in a way that can win post haste. The longer you're adrift, the harder it is to get the fans back.

The problem IS Pegula.  It has to be.  In terms of on ice/on field success, I don't think there is an owner in the history of modern American sports whos team has had less success than under Pegula.  Does he meddle? Does he pick bad managers?  Does he pick people based on them making him 'feel good' about himself rather than doing the job correctly?  I don't know, but it has to be something.

Bravo! I feel so inspired! Winning the faceoff battle at 56.8%. We have more blocked shots and 10 less giveaways. Scoreboard schmoreboard

Marty made a great point about that in saying that faceoffs are important “when they’re important”and pointed out that they were 0-3 on pp faceoffs in the offensive zone.

It absolutely is Pegula. Pegula should not be making any decisions that directly impact the team like hiring a GM. There needs to be a buffer. He needs to hire a President of Hockey Operations (and a good one) to make those calls. He should be 100% hands off.

I understand the irony that he would choose the guy that makes those decisions, but what can I say?
