What if the Sabres make the playoffs and Edmonton finishes a point shy?

WhenWillItEnd66 Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 As much as i hope and want to see us make it, i just do not believe we have enough scoring ability to do so. This organization is banking a lot of Ifs. - If our PP gets better - If we get good goaltending - If all our players who regressed last year, return to form - If Ruff gets more out of this team About the only things that were really addressed was some speed and our 3rd and 4th line. If that is truly what this team was missing and all the IFS fall into place, then they should make the playoffs. 1

If that is truly what this team was missing and all the IFS fall into place, then they should make the playoffs. This is more or less where I am. It is early October and I am optimistic. I love this franchise and if you are a Sabre I want you to be successful. There are lots of reasons to be hopeful about where this is going. But, too many things have to go right that simply have no consistent track record of going right. Players need to bounce back to a level they did not display a year ago, or emerge to a level they have not, largely due to youth, shown before, ), or repeat something they have only done once. And, Ruff needs to be the coach we remember him as and want him to be (in effectiveness if not specifically in style) and not the more average NHL coach that the rest of the hockey world sees him as (it is telling in my view, that in the time since he was fired by the Sabres, no true contender identified Ruff as the coach they needed). I am hopeful and optimistic because it is October and because we are young and talented and because Ruff has seemingly breathed new (old) energy into the franchise. Too much needs to go right that has not gone right before, for me to predict the playoffs though. I disagree with those who predict boom or bust. We are the definition of a bubble-team until we prove otherwise. I see no reason to predict a collapse. We are most likely to fall just short. Edited October 3 by Archie Lee 1

That would be what we call a coincidence. We missed the playoffs by 1 point, 2 seasons ago. It wasn’t an insurmountable point as long as one Jeffrey Skinner remained on the roster. That would defy logic.
Taro T Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 Expect on paper this should be a 96 point team. Pundits aren't giving the removal of Ellis from strategizing how the PP will run it's full due. But fork it, it's hopium season. 105-108 and either 3rd in the East or 1st WC. The GTing will hold up and bringing accountability back for the 1st time in a dozen years along with having typical injury luck for a youthful team all click. Starts tomorrow just after noon. 1
