Are you watching the games? Tuch and Thompson are both playing well, at least from what I have observed. Tuch may not be garnering a lot of offensive stats but on both sides of the ice he is one of our most aggressive players. He and Greenway are two of our best penalty killers. Our top line is playing well. He's a factor in that.

I don't understand your response in judging their play. They both are playing well since the European excursion. I'm simply perplexed by your opinion of these two first line players, especially during this short period of success. Will their productive play be maintained? I can't say. Let's just see how these players and team play in a longer time frame when an opinion can be better supported. Right now, I'm more positive than negative.

And that comment was made right after the Europe trip. I’m not sure what your confusion is. They looked like ***** overseas.

I agree with your assessment after that dispiriting trip. I didn't relate your response to only that trip. I thought it also applied after our recent games. My bad for jumping to conclusions without understanding the context.

And Rasmus is easily one of the least liked players on the team.

You know nothing. Rasmus is very well liked and even has Zach Benson living in his house.  He is the leader and guys who don't want to work hard are not going to fit in a Lindy/Dahlin Sabres locker room.  This isn't the Granato/Okposo Sabres where everyone accepts losing and makes excuses for the poor leadership. And Okposo and Granato are good guys, they just weren't leaders. One was way past his prime and the other was out of his league coaching in the NHL. There has to be accountability in professional sports. That is what Ruff and Dahlin bring to the Sabres.

I’m talking about the fans

I'm still puzzled by this.  I wasn't aware the fans had a thing against Dahlin.

I would say it’s a thing against the Sabres, and Dahlin is a victim of it.  I am amazed at how many “fans” in Buffalo still don’t care for Dahlin’s game yet.  It’s probably not the majority, but it’s quite a few.

When I go to Buffalo, which is often, it’s very hard to find fans that really like this team anymore.   The majority of the Sabre fan base is in the wait and see mode.  Unlike football, the NHL has so many more games and the losing had become intolerable for many people.  Draft picks take many years to develop, and this team sits on unspent cap dollars year after year.

Dahlin is a victim of playing for an organization run by the least successful owner in NHL history ( rated by wins and losses and playoffs).   Eichel and Reinhart are similar cases.

I imagine many of the people that take issue with Dahlin also took issue with Eichel and Reinhart. There was no shortage of detractors for either of them. Some people require a villain even if they have to manufacture one.

Maybe his Sunday pre-Bills wake and bake went a little harder than usual, because I would have thought Dahlin was one of the most liked guys on the team.

Dahlin is quite popular.  IMO Tage is probably the most popular and the local guy Tuch is right there.  Not surprising. UPL is actually quite popular too.

Dahlin is he is a defensive player, even if he is an offensive/defensive player.  Goal scorers get the glory.

Dahlin will become quite popular when he becomes the first Sabres player to ever hoist the Stanley Cup.

Dahlin was cursed.  Exclamations of generational talent, comparisons to Denis Potvin.  Next coming of Lidstrom stuff.  His own fanbase cursed hime.

I have thing against him.  He doesn't take care of the puck.  He doesn't make the easy / smart plays, as Lindy said earlier this week "don't put unnecessary risk in the game".  Thompson said something similar this week "we're learning."  Expectations for a #1 overall are extremely high.  Obviously he's an exceptionally talented skater and puck handler. And he seems to be invested and want it.  But those qualities don't equate to understanding how to win in the NHL. And his body of work up to this point has proven he has yet to figure it out.  Countless poor decisions w/ the puck on his stick that cost his team.  I can't wait to be wrong, the sooner the better, but for me it's been a frustrating couple of years with Dahlin being anointed as the salvation / "best player".

This is fair, but in reality people should be blaming the franchise. Dahlin can't turn the team around by himself, no player can, period. Fans putting the blame on the skilled players and leaders of a team is really misplaced unless the team had a chance to win in the first place.  This team has not had solid chance as we keep saying about the owner and GM building the team over the years.

I understand where you are coming from and I have been critical of Dahlin as well, but this team would be immensely worse with him not on the team than it is with him on the team.  I'd wager a bet that if the Sabres were looking to trade him there would be 31 franchises looking to make the trade.

The entire team has not figured it all out yet, so by extension Dahlin will have struggles.  He does make bad plays, every player does. I am sure we could go back in the days of Lidstrom and find some bad plays early on. Of course he did have a much better team at the time than Dahlin does.

I'm dismissing a bit of his work this year because he's injured, but he is an all-star defenseman who was tied for the lead in scoring on the Buffalo Sabres last year. No other team had a defenseman leading the team in scoring.  Now, you really don't want your defense leading the team, but it demonstrates his importance.

Word. And 25 minutes toi per game  = we see him w/ the puck a lot and so it feels like more mistakes...but..yeah...just (as has been said many times before) I would much prefer we have a Shea Weber, Brett Burns or maybe even Trouba type as our #1 overall (2x) franchise D-man. Instead we get "i'm an offensive d-man!" Letang / Karlsson  So yeah probably unfair dislike of him given what all he's carrying for the franchise, but give me more of "it" (know what it takes to win) and I'll change my tune quickly.

Sorry but this is such BS. That isn't who Dahlin is and if he wasn't playing the most incompetent team in the league you wouldn't think such an outlandish thing.

Also Trouba? Are you joking? You would rather have Trouba than Dahlin? I just can't even anymore with all this Dahlin hate. Guy had almost 200 hits last year, lead the league in defender goals, was still a positive defensive player and yet you want Jacob Trouba.

Vomit.

Edit: Sorry, Dahlin was 3rd in goals just behind Makar and Josi

God freaking hell, Trouba over Dahlin.... just wtf.

Lol alright maybe that's too far.  Point is, this team is missing intimidation and in my opinion that's very important to winning and our #1 overall and C Dahlin doesn't bring it.  He also doesn't take care of the puck consistently, the way a leader and "best player" should.  That's the biggest piece for me, just please take care of the gd puck, 100% of the time.

I'm optimistic from the way they are playing this year and comments from Lindy and players (tage, clifton) they are starting to figure it out. (and thank you KA for punting Skinner to the great white north, which was step 1 of this build process) Hopefully from here Ws keep coming, they build some swagger, and Dahlin grows into the nasty boss no one wants to face.  Until then, cool with me if fanbois wanna fanboi. I'll grumpy old man over here.

Intimidation? I mean, the guy had almost 200 hits and can deke out all the forwards. Idk what you want.
