They need a star. Here in Cincinnati, the Reds suck but people show up to watch Elly de la Cruz. There is no reason to watch the Sabres. They lose and they're all boring.

You know the saddest thing is with the Rags crashing and burning, the Bruins falling, Detroit still sucking, Ottawa not doing much, there was a very real opportunity this season and yet Adams won't do anything to try to seize it.

Yup. 9 games ago they were 3rd in the Atlantic and needed a veteran defensive RHD to pair with Power. A couple of those teams have up a bit, but no one has gone on any run. It's the same GM that had a team 1 point shy of a playoff spot and lost a scoring winger in the offseason to surgery (before UFA) and made no moves to the forward ranks except to re-sign Jost. Never seized any opportunity.

Unless the Sabres were to go on a 12-game winning streak to get them back to wild card pace, the season is already over.

Yep. Can’t trade for anyone when things are going well because you don’t want to upset the apple cart. And can’t trade when things aren’t going well because you don’t want to do anything rash that will come back to haunt you. It’s a cycle that Adams has put himself in.

Which would put him 9th on the Sabres in points; 2 ahead of Benson and 1 behind DCoz. The minus 8 gets him third worst - ahead of Peterka and Quinn.

Don't get me wrong, I am not sad he is not here and I don't think he is the reason the Sabres suck again, but - yeah, there is no but.

Vegas is about 6 weeks away from being in good enough shape record-wise to LTIR someone with a recovery time that aligns with the start of the playoffs. Then, they've got that convenient month of prep time before the trade deadline.

Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't suggesting getting rid of Skinner was a mistake, quite the opposite (we should have gotten rid of him when Kreuger (for all his flaws) told us he was garbage). I'm just saying not ALL Sabres who leave go on to greatness.

I was actually lamenting how, as bad as Skinner is this year, he would not be even close to the bottom of the Sabres' barrel. Although, his very pedestrian output is on a much more talented roster.

I just tripped across this on reddit:  A family going into a Ducks game wins a prize from Victory+ (basically the same as MSG Network for the Stars and Ducks since Bally went bye-bye).  But the gift doesn't end there; it keeps giving (sound on).
