Same as with the Sabres. Coaches just don’t trust him in OT despite his offensive skills.

In a related joking note, the Oilers blew a 2-goal lead in the third and are falling behind in their division. How long until they trade Skinner (the Jeff one) so that they can make the playoffs?

I feel like he was occasionally deployed by meatballs but maybe not.

Dig the**** in! right now!

Actually tho I do wish them success.

Occasionally, yes. But very little for a top-line forward for almost his entire time playing for HC DG.

Isn't it something how returning the the Jets has turned Eric Comrie back into a capable NHL goaler?

I tell you, it's a Winterpeg Miracle.

He’s played 1 game

How does it feel to be completely wrong about Eric Comrie?

If you want to think about wildcard spots, the Flyers are not a threat this year. Watching them play the Caps and boy do they look bad. Caps on the other hand look like the Caps and they will be in that wildcard race with their mixture of old guys and misfits.

Did he play a second game?

It was a joke in reference to a thread that has since been deleted. I promise, it was funny.

Washington wins 5 in a row. 2nd in the conference in point percentage.

Not even all easy wins. They beat the Stars. They beat Vegas. They beat Jersey.

I can't think they will keep this up for long, but many of us said the same thing and they made the playoffs last year.  In the first 2 weeks they are playing even better this year.

Jacob Chychrun had a bad time in Ottawa and they wanted to get rid of him. From the little I have read in Washington, people say he is playing great.  They are getting balances scoring (in only 6 games, 9 players already have multiple goals. Buffalo had played 8 games and only has 6 with multiple goals). And their goaltending has only been 'average' so far.

They are playing a total 'team' game. lets see how long they can keep it up, but they look good so far.

It's a night of interesting and marquee matchups for the Atlantic squads:

Stars @ Bruins; Devils @ Red Wings; Wild @ Lightning; Panthers @ Rangers

(and Blues@Leafs, too)

Selfishly, I'd love to see the Stars and Devils angrily rebound from recent losses and the Wild and Rangers to stay hot, all with regulation wins. And the Blues can win, too.

man, there's good reason that the saudis want to get out of fossil fuels and into pro sports franchises ... there's just nothing out there that's shown the sort of value growth that pro clubs have shown. it's nuts.

A majority stake in the TB Lightning has been sold

1.8 billion US for Tampa, 4 billion US for the Maple Leafs (almost 12 billion for all of MLSE), prices for sports franchises seem to be immune from the real world as their prices continue to go up no matter what

Listening to Bissonette pronounce Vegas is pure comedy.

I’ve finally figured out what Canadians are doing with this word.  They act as if they have never heard a Hispanic person or heard a Hispanic originating term pronounced.  Which is curious as 1/4 of the country speaks French, a language that is closely related to Spanish. So cultured people understand the Hispanic origin of Las Vegas (it’s not like I’m reaching) and just go right to the standard North American breakdown of Vegas.  So instead of getting the long “A” sound that the Spanish “E” gives us, they lean hard into the soft “e” sound or schwa sound.  Fascinating.

I think b.c the ownership of an exclusive sport franchise is where the extra value comes from.

You can buy a car for one price but if you want a car that only has 30+ others like it in the world you are going to pay more.

And the ultra rich are getting ultra richer.

Vegg-us is pretty much what our Northern friends are saying. Void of any cultural leanings or influence.  Like proh-gress or proh-cess.  See word, say word.

Of on a tangent, but the "British" version of English tends to "Anglicize" word pronunciation; they say the word as if it were an English word.  Canadian English aligns closer to British English than American English does.

American English tends to try to pronounce the word in its native language, but the default foreign language people tend to use is Spanish.  So while it doesn't affect the American pronunciation of Vegas, some words are not said anything like they are in the home language.  One instance of this is Vietnam:  Americans tend to pronounce the last syllable as something that rhymes with Tom, because that aligns with how you say an "a" in Spanish (like in taco).  But the Vietnamese pronunciation actually rhymes with something much more like "lamb".

To my ear, Vietnam (rhymes with lamb) sounds like the mispronunciation, but it's actually correct.
