This is a weird trade for where both teams are trending

I don't think Penguins can go into full rebuild mode until Crosby and Malkin are gone. So they will try to reload with vets until the inevitable time comes.

-Panthers and Jets about to trade to swap goalies

-Vegas and Rangers just traded Reilly Smith for Brisson and  pick (with salary retained)

-Jersey Aquires Dumelouin for a 2nd and a prospect

-Florida gets Nico Sturm for a 4th.

That is just this morning in addition to 4 moves yesterday.

Oh, Ryan Reaves just waived to free up cap space so Toronto can make a move or moves.

And Buffalo......so far Nothing.

Sabres should claim Ryan Reaves

Well he would definitely bring added toughness

Their time has come, they ain’t making the playoffs again and let’s face it Dubas as a GM has no idea of what he is doing!

That moment has come and gone. Olivier is a free agent I think. Overpay him instead in the off season.

I do think Dubas is a bad GM. Decent drafting skills but not a good GM. In fairness however I do not think he has much choice there. Ownership will  want what Crosby wants until Crosby doesn't want it any more and Dubas has no choice but to do that.

Colton Parayko for St. Louis looks to be out for at least 1 1/2 months with an injury.

The Blues are only 1 point out of a playoff spot and have been making a push (14 points in their last 10 games).

They probably could use a D-man, and Parayko was on the top pair, I think he's a Right hand shot also....maybe a spot for a Sabres guy to be traded, Jokiharju?

I’m not sure that I understand why we wouldn’t be in on a trade like this one. FLA evidently thinks that Sturm can play a role and help them repeat as Champs. We have 10 picks in the coming draft. I know he is a UFA, but could we not have sacrificed a 4th rd pick and then used the time between now and July 1st to convince Sturm to stay. Maybe Sturm isn’t the best choice, depending on your preference, but I don’t see a big downside.

I've been a little absent from game discussion lately.  Was it ever clarified why Jokiharju was scratched over the last week?  Injured?  Held out due to trade talks?  In Ruff's dog-house again?

Someone else has to speak to that, I'm not sure.

It seems obvious there is something about him that the staff doesn't like though, practice habits maybe?  He's not a top 2 guy, but when he does play, I think he's pretty solid as a 3rd pair guy and he doesn't even hurt you too much as a 2nd.  I've 'kinda' liked his game this year, but it seems the coaching staff does not.

I’d guess trade talks to be honest; he’d played well his last game

Blue Jackets are pretty decent and a hard team to play against, but not tonight.

About half way through the game against Florida. They are down 2-0, but they are being outshot 26-7.  Thats domination.

On the ESPN broadcast they made a comment that he is a candidate to be traded. I don't know if he will be traded but it is apparent from regularly being out of the lineup that he will be moved with peanuts in return. I'm sure that he will be relieved to get out of this cesspool of a franchise.

I pray Marchand gets traded because then we could theoretically throw money at him for a couple years to give us a vet leader to help Dahlin kick some players in the ass.

Getting Marchand in a trade would make no sense for us. He's a veteran player who's clearly on the downside of his career. We would have to take on a hefty salary and give up assets for a player who is in his fading career becoming a less significant factor. This is the type of transaction for show that our clownish organization would do just to demonstrate that it is doing something to remedy a dismal situation with PR stunts. Marchand has been an instrumental and iconic player for the Bruins, a consistently good franchise. The organization would not disgrace itself by sending this iconic Bruin to this buffoonish organization in western NY. He deserves better treatment. If the Bruin organization would trade him, it should be to a serious organization. That's certainly not the laughable Sabre organization.

An absolute no for me!

No, not as a trade to us, as a UFA

How about he re-signs for a year as a Panther?

Still a resolute no for me. The Sabres are now a mocked franchise. Do you think that he wants to finish his impressive career here in the clown show? I doubt it.

Looks like Jokiharju and Mittelstadt will be fine in Boston. Especially Mittelstadt had a good game. Boston keeps fighting for a playoff spot despite loosing several players on deadline.

Steve Bernier. Was electric his first game after being traded to Buffalo... and that was about it.

Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad has been suspended 20 games for violating the NHL/NHLPA performance-enhancing substances program, the league announced Monday.

The suspension is accompanied by a mandatory referral to the NHL/NHLPA program for substance abuse and behavioral health for evaluation and possible treatment, as per the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

With 18 contests remaining in Florida's regular season, Ekblad will be forced to miss the Panthers' first two playoff games.

Cozens after 2 games with the Sens, got the game winner tonight, leads the league in hits the past two games and he was named the second star in each of his games there. The Sabres effect in action.

Shocked. Shocked I tell ya.
