Apparently there has been some speculation about Calgary being interested in Cozens.

How is the picture related to that?

I think it’s merely weekes being deliberate obtuse. Correct me if I’m wrong, but is the pic not downtown buffalo?

others may just call it click bait.

I don't know that it is.  But Weekes's schtick is for cryptic posts when something might be happening. This is not an endorsement.

Pierre LeBrun's TSN report has the Flames (and, he says, 2/3's of the NHL ) inquiring about Cozens.

I assumed people knew at least that much.

Cryptic enough to discourage any further effort to decipher on my part.

Sure, I will take Connor Zary, Samuel Honzek, and their 2025 1st for Dylan Cozens and our 2025 2nd. If that isn't enough give them one of the 400 prospects we are hording.

The acquisition of Frost may have pushed Kadri down the depth chart. He could be a 2-3C for a couple of years.

I would still love to get Rasmus Andersson to partner with our Rasmus. Coleman is like Zucker. Zary has more offense than Krebs.

Andersson's AAV is an affordable 4.45m but he is only under contract for one more season.

Weegar has 6 more seasons at 6.5m and is better defensively. Leave the O to Dahlin and let Weegar be the hard to play against D man that he is.

Weegar and Dahlin could be a top pairing in the league.

What would it take from the Jets to pry Cozens away?

We don't really have the depth to trade a RHD.

I'm going to do my best to be quiet on Cozens for a little while.

Honestly, he hasn't been that much of a liability the last few games, at least for a bit he has cut down on his egregious mistakes.

So many rumors about teams interested in Cozens makes me wonder are these teams all stupid or are we the stupid ones and Cozens isn't the problem.

I’ve said it before, every player on this roster would fit in, and do acceptably well on good playoff teams because they would be properly supported.  Unfortunately, none of the players on this roster are properly supported, and are in a very challenging environment to truly shine.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all to see Cozens bloom in a good environment.  But this ain’t it, unfortunately.

Such a good take.

The problem ain't any of the players in isolation -- okay, maybe a couple stink out loud -- rather, the problem is how GM KA built the team and roster.

Yup.  Everyone is a line higher than they should be, under-mentored, and in an environment where messages about expectations are mixed, at best.

I can’t think of another profession where people in this scenario would shine.

Confused High Quality GIF

the travolta pulp fiction gif fits nicely with the idea of young sabres looking for mentoring.

I will throw something out there as a possibility...

I remember when the Sabres were trying to move on from Ristolainen. Rumor (strong rumor from multiple sources) said the Sabres had a trade worked out for him (maybe it was Winnipeg??), maybe more than 1 with more than one team, where a trade was 'close' to happening, and then as it got closer and closer, the analytics dept. of those other teams got involved and said "No Way!".   I know it was discussed on this forum.

Basically, the traditional scouts and hockey guys wanted him, they saw the size, the skill, the raw ability, but as the trade got closer, the deeper dive into his game came up with the 'mental flaws' in his game.

Maybe the same things is happening with Cozens? A lot of teams are interested on the surface. They GM's and traditional 'hockey guys" scout him and see the raw ability. Its only when the trade gets closer, they do a deep dive into his film, his tendencies, his analytics, they cool down on him. And that is why there are so many rumors but so little movement with him?
