Is anyone else enjoying the Rangers drama?  Losing 5 of 6.  Players turning on Drury.  Good stuff.  The eastern conference is wide open right now.

I'm not entirely sure how one takes it out on a team besides being annoyed or angry at them. In the end there are 3 things, in order, that are non negotiable.

1. Sabres stay in Buffalo 

2. Sabres are a great team (more a desire but only secondary to their literal existence)

3. Fans aren't wholesale negative (It will never not get on my nerves how a small number of posters only chime in when the team is doing bad or struggling yet are completely silent when they look good)  

Tbf I don’t know who really falls under category 3

I get that. The internet does paint a very black and white view of things and tends to make it look like you are all one way or the opposite. You don't really know the people on the other end. If any of us were talking about it in a coffee shop or bar or even in our living rooms watching the game we'd have much different views of each other.

Normally, this is definitely a backup goalie game for Winnipeg, but they're losers of 4 in a row and have ceded their division lead to Minnesota.

It should be a Comrie revenge game, but it could very easily be a Hellebuyck get-right shutout game.

I'm not sure what that means but Cellebrini looks like he might be better than Bedard. 

Personally I think Michkov might be better than either of them.

Florida came into the league as cup champions. As like boxing, the first team that beats them becomes reigning champ (I think it was Ottawa). They are champ until someone beats them and so on and so on.

There is a guy on SM that tracks this every year, and right now San Jose is that reigning champion.

As for Bedard, I wonder if he is impacted by the couple of minor...but possibly nagging...injuries he has had so far?  He looks like a good player, especially for his age (I think 19), but he doesn't seem to have taken that step from last year to this year you would expect with someone of his pedigree.

Oh okay gotcha now, beat the champ. Well you'd have to do that in the playoffs though so that still remains to be seen. 

All 3 of those guys are going to be good players, it's just that Bedard was heralded as the best of the them and right now I'd place him third.

Four Nations tournament teams announced. Tage Thompson does not make the US roster. This shows what NHL GMs value on a team's bottom 6 (GM Guerin and team). Jokiharju does not make the Finnish roster.

Making Team Canada? Naturally, it's formed Sabres draft pick... Brandon Hagel.

It's the age-old question: you need a #6 RHD on your roster: Risto or Joker?

Team Finland takes the 6-4 220 guy.

Congrats though to Dahlin and Luukkonen for making their national teams.

They did not choose between Joker and Risto, it was between Joker and Hakanpää, who has been injured since March and only played two games this season, before he was back on IR. That is a much harder lesson to Joker than Lindy making him a healthy scratch. Let's see how he responds, but he probably is on top of the list of players that will be traded as soon as someone takes him.

All kidding aside Risto's playing really well for Philly this year. idk the whole story but it would appear Torts might have fixed him and he's not just "big guy who hits things" as @LGR4GM liked to say all the time. The games I've seen he doesn't run around like he used to and he picks his rush moments better (and he still hits things :))  He's much better than Jokiharju.

Saw them play the Bruins last night and they looked really flat. All they do is dump and chase and they don't chase for it very quickly. So not a huge surprise.

I suspect Chicago will pack in the season and dump a lot of the vets they added at the deadline like Hall and Maroon etc.

Hawks are my second team, since I have spend a large portion of my life in Chicago after Buffalo. And they are a Western conference team, so, ahem ... cough, cough - there is no appearance of conflict of cheering interest 😉 Although I do wear my red goat head practice jersey when the Sabres are in town to get a couple fewer insults hurled my way, lol.

That said, I sure hope they don't find a way to ruin Bedard. The kid is special, but the last interview I saw with him - he looked frustrated. It might be another case of an outrageously talented kid who is finally encountering players at or above his skill or hockey IQ level for the first time and struggling to find his footing a little. I think they asked him to play "real" hockey this year, not just be an O-zone highlight reel and he is struggling to balance it all. He hates to lose and has done nothing but since joining the Hawks and I think it is eating him from the inside.
